Things I am grateful for Part 2 of TBD.

I am grateful for my commitment to travel.

I often question if traveling as often as I do is the right thing to do. I wonder if I should be doing something more responsible, less frivolous, less hedonistic.

However, I’ve now come to realize that I travel often because I take it seriously. It’s not frivolous, it’s an investment in myself and a great way to take advantage of the season of life in which I find myself.

I travel because I value the experiences and connections that it unlocks for me.

Travel is transformational and continues to be a wonderful gift.

What are you grateful for?

Things I am grateful for - Part 1 of TBD

I am grateful for my friends turned clients. Thank you for entrusting your travels with me.

Thank you to my very first client, Y, who partnered with me to plan lodging and activity options for his boys trip to Brazil.

Thank you to Y for entrusting me with a multigenerational family trip through Italy.

Thank you to B and K, single boss lady mamas, who allowed me to plan their luxury girls trip to the Dominican Republic.

Thank you to my married friends S&D and N&A who entrusted their anniversary trips to the Cayman Islands and St. Martin to me.

Thank you to H for allowing me to recommend hotel options for a girls trip to the UK.

Thank you to K for thinking of me when he needed to plan a last minute birthday trip to Mexico, for his new bride.

Thank you M for encouraging me to stand by my pricing and process even when there were naysayers.

Thank you for supporting my business and helping me to learn along the way!

Today I vocalized what I really wanted. It was scary. Scary because I thought what I wanted was not possible. Then I spoke it, shared it and was told that what I wanted was more common than I originally thought.

Fear is a terrible thing. May we each have the wisdom and boldness to speak our minds and the courage to deal with whatever comes after.

I’ve always wanted to be an Ambassador and I did it!!! Well although I am not an ambassador in the traditional sense, achieving Marriott Ambassador status is pretty amazing!

The Ambassador Elite status is the highest any Bonvoy member can achieve in a given year. Ambassador Elite members must stay 100 nights at a Marriott property and spend $20k within that same year.

This year, due to some personal circumstances, I lived in a hotel for about 3 months where I earned many of the points that funded my recent travels and achieved 90% of the required $20k spend. It wasn’t fun to be displaced from my home for a long period but the opportunity to accrue Marriott points and improve my status was the silver lining.

My favorite perk of Ambassador status is the customized service. I have access to a team of specialized agents who help me with whatever I need whenever.

For example, for my birthday they acted like a concierge providing dedicated assistance as I traveled from Zanzibar to Kigali and ensured that the Kigali team was ready to make my time there very special. Currently I am dealing with an escalation from a recent stay at a Marriott property and the Ambassador team is handling all of it. It’s so so nice to be on the receiving end of white glove service!

Comment below, what travel brands are you loyal to? Let me know if you have any questions about the Marriott Status!

Happy new month!

Let’s play two truths and a lie, shall we?

1. I was once a Puppeteer
2. I recently started a travel planning business
3. I’ve met George Clooney

Which is the lie? Comment below with your best guess.

Travel Tip Tuesday!

Finding cheap flights to my destination is often the easiest part of travel for me. The most difficult however is getting around within my destination.

As a solo traveler I have to figure out cost effective and SAFE ways to get around town in different countries. Although I leverage public transport where possible, many times, especially for airport transfers, taxis and cars are best.

While Uber is generally available in most or all countries I’ve visited, coverage is limited and so it’s unreliable on demand or is otherwise very expensive.

So, I always do a bit of pre planning to identify and download other more local ride share apps as an alternative to Uber!

Here is a small list :

- Bolt: just like Uber but always less expensive
- Bla Bla Car: great in Europe for getting around across two different cities say Paris to Reims.
- Free Now: great app for reserving Taxis
-Careem: Uber alternative in the Middle East

Comment below and lmk. Have you used any of these Uber alternatives?

Food/dining is such an important way to experience culture while traveling.

I am proud to offer reservation booking and confirmation services to clients who book my White Glove package. I own the burden of finding reputable establishments and securing a reservation time that works with your overall travel plans.

Swipe to see a testimonial from a client’s recent trip to the Cayman Islands.

The best and most reputable fine dining option on Grand Cayman was was going to be closed for two weeks after my clients arrived. So, I worked my magic to land a reservation three hours after my clients landed so that they could kick off their vacation with an outstanding dining experience!

Lmk in the comments below - on a scale of 1-5 (v important), how important are your dining experiences when you travel?

Let’s face it - most of us have or will experience some form of a hiccup during travel. How do you handle this when it happens? Who has your back and how do you make sure these hiccups don’t ruin your entire trip?

One of the key benefits of working with me and choosing my White Glove travel package in particular is that you receive unlimited access to me before, and during your trip.

With my White Glove package you don’t have to deal with any of the rare hiccups that may occur. My White Glove clients simply escalate the issue to me and I deal with the rest.

Swipe to read directly from recent clients about how I helped them resolve a hotel debacle.

hotel in Bocas is an excellent entry level choice for those looking for an over the water bungalow experience.

Prices vary depending on the season but you should plan to spend $300-$600 per night

The hotel has a strong sustainability focus and so there is no power from 10am until 6p when most guests are out exploring the island. If this is a problem for you then you should book an alternative property.

Also be warned there is a club on the other side of town that plays loud music until early morning. I found the noise to carry into the rooms so If you are a light sleeper I’d suggest something else.

Let me know what you think in the comments. Would you stay here?

Yesterday, I completed a questionnaire that will help my Lawyer craft my Will. I’ve had this form for a year and despite multiple attempts could never bring myself to complete it. I would get stuck at the section asking about my funeral arrangements and preferences. It is an uncomfortable subject to contemplate.

I wrote down who will inherit my Limoges collection, my Moroccan rugs, my antique prints and other items from my travels.

I realized that I don’t have a whole lot to leave as far as stuff goes. I panicked slightly at this realization but then I think it’s ok. The questionnaire reinforced my belief in collecting experiences not things.

I know all too well now that a legacy is not about the stuff you leave behind and is instead about the lives you touched and the memories that were created from lived experience.

What will you leave behind?

I was a wedding guest in NJ yesterday. It was great to celebrate my friend and her new husband! I also took advantage of the venue’s close proximity to revisit some of my favorite Philly spots.

DMV folks - don’t sleep on Philly - it’s such an easy trip from the area and it’s great fun!

Here is how I spent a few hours in Philly outside the wedding.

See - Reading Terminal will always be one of my favorite reasons to visit Philly! The historic market is home to many local merchants and the unforgettable Amish-run - the Apple Cider is my favorite. On this quick trip, I tried for the first time and LOVED IT!

Sip - Oatmilk Nitro Latte from

Stay - Service here was impeccable and it’s in front of city hall. It was in fact the old annex building for Philly’s city hall.

Slog: Although technically not a hike, I love because it’s open nearly year round and features a skating rink for kids of all ages to enjoy.

Have you been to Philly? Lmk what you love about it in the comments below.

Happy new month and hello to the new faces around here!

I’m Ronke. I love to travel and I recently started a small business to help others travel with little to no stress! I created this page to chronicle my adventures and share tips and tricks. I try to post consistently and use Reels but I find the latter overwhelming. I am not deterred though, last week, I published 3 reels a record for me and I’ll keep trying!

One of my favorite things to do on this platform is to show my Souvenirs and to share my stays with you. I’ll try to do more of these this month and I have a highlight for hotels and a video series for Souvenirs!

As the world opens back up what travel questions can I help answer for you!?!

Happy Sunday, happy new month and have a wonderful week ahead!!

I know I look crazy in this picture. Sometimes when you do something different you look absolutely ridiculous.

But you know what is really crazy? Allowing fear to keep me from trying.

My trip to Costa Rica afforded me another first: Snorkeling.

Before I went I just knew I would drown and a shark would eat me (real thoughts in my head). What happened instead was of course the exact opposite.

I instead discovered a whole word under the sea and now I plan to buy a Go Pro so that I can capture photos of future under the sea explorations!

And yes I strapped a life jacket around me and held on to one as well. 🤷🏾‍♀️

1. Playa Cocles - pictured here

These beaches are on Costa Rica’s east coast, where land meets the Caribbean Sea. The water is WARM, the food INCREDIBLE and the people, incredibly nice.

Picture 1: Caye Caulker, Belize. Moments after this photo was taken, I experienced significant micro aggression from a Caucasian woman.

Picture 2: El Salvador. Moments before this picture was taken, numerous Salvadorian men and women wanted to take a picture with me because my hair was “so beautiful” they said.

Picture 3: Kiev, Ukraine. On a 2011 trip to visit my cousins in Ukraine, I witnessed first hand how Black people (many of whom were paying international students from African countries, like Nigeria) were marginalized during their daily activities. Sadly, today, even in the midst of the ongoing conflict with Russia, African students continue to be marginalized as they also try to exit the borders in pursuit of refuge.

Picture 4: Bordeaux, France. Moments after this picture was taken, I was bombarded with questions about “people of color” since I was one - as though I was the mouthpiece for a monolithic race. The individual proceeded to state the “N” word at least twice - during our conversation to “make a point” he said - and then in the same breath shared he wasn’t racist and then cited a relationship with a Black friend as evidence.

I travel a lot because I derive joy from connecting with people from all over the world. 90% of those connections are wonderful and characterized by mutual respect and understanding. However, there are those cases where, like a slap to my face, I am reminded of the color of my skin and how some have conferred to it inferiority, poverty, exoticism, etc.

When this happens, I am bewildered yet not deterred. Where I can, I educate and where I can’t I pursue peace and walk away.

As we wind down Black History month in the United States, I encourage you to continue to learn about Black history throughout the year. May we never stop learning about each other. Let’s look back so that we can move forward.

I am a Black woman in constant pursuit of Black History.

Here I am walking the streets of Lagos and Lisbon in Portugal in October last year.

Did you know that in the late 1400s, Portuguese powers used the port of Lagos (Nigeria) among others, to launch the transatlantic trade of enslaved peoples?

If you ever end up visiting Lisbon and are interested in African history, I strongly suggest you join Naky to learn more.

I am so blessed to be able to travel freely and explore different parts of the world and have so much gratitude for the men and women who work so hard to preserve Black history globally.

Smiling big because I just achieved Titanium Elite Status with (swipe to see it)

Quick Story: Before working in Tech, I was in Consulting. Consulting was primarily appealing to me because of the frequent travel and the possibility for quick points/mileage/status accumulation! My reality however was different - as a government consultant - I traveled NOWHERE with maybe the occasional trip for professional development meetings or conferences. The point is - I earned no status and accumulated no points. Even my current job was supposed to come with lots of opportunity to travel but for varying reasons, including the pandemic, that didn’t work out.

So, I am SO SO SO SO PROUD of myself for achieving this status through my own travels! It’s a big deal for me!

So, why should you care?

Swipe to learn more about why you should sign up for and other loyalty programs for that matter (slide 3) and perks of the Titanium Status in particular (slide 4)!

I am particularly thrilled about the United Silver Premier Status - I don’t love United tbh - but the free checked bag will be game changing for me and the souvenirs and antiques I want to bring home!!

I’ve never met a beach I didn’t like.

This picture was taken earlier this week, at the Golden Bay beach in Malta. It was 67 degrees and a much welcome break from the cold weather in the French Christmas markets.

For as long as I have been in the United States, all my Christmases have been cold or “white.”

I am beginning to rethink the entire thing!

Comment below - are you team “white Christmas” or team “hot Christmas”?
