We were roommates at Loyola University. We have been friends for 33 years.

Reflecting on a time with my good friend..

We took a road trip to her hometown in Pittsburgh in 1990 from Chicago. She got this old taxi cab that was not the best looking but hey it was operable. Set time to be on road at 4 am.

Ready. set. Go…,who accidentally locked keys in trunk. “Say it ain’t so, Nicole?” is what I yelled to myself plus some other cuss words. Emilia was still in my apartment so she had no idea.

As you can imagine… I’m looking dumb like how the heck are we going to get these keys. It’s dead silent on the streets. Not a car in sight. Remember, it’s the 90s.

Now, here comes Emilia. My heart drops because I feel horrible. She was calm and immediately tried to come up with a solution. Then, Out of nowhere a car drives by and he happened to have a crow bar. Yes, that tool was a lifesaver back then. That stranger was a Godsend.

Also, God blessed me with a cool a$$ friend because anyone else probably would have been snapping out. Nope, not Emilia. She was like it was an accident. We will figure it out.

Just like that we were on the road..having a good time even if 2 hrs behind schedule. I remember this day as if it was yesterday. Yet, we still laugh about it 30 years later.

Dang, we are forever young!!!

Thanksgiving travel is up because on last Friday TSA officers screened more than 2,2 million people at airport security checkpoints nationwide. 🛩

This is the highest checkpoint volume since passenger volume decreased in early 2020 as a result of the pandemic.

U.S. Traveler Update

Effective November 8, 2021, all U.S. citizens who are unvaccinated will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test taken within one day of departure to the U.S. This new policy is a change from the previous three day requirement, which remains in place for vaccinated travelers.

Children between the ages of 2 and 17 are required to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test in order to enter the U.S., regardless of citizenship. Children under 2 years of age are exempt from the testing requirement, and children under 18 are exempt from having to provide proof of vaccination.

Additionally, airlines will now verify vaccination status – in addition to negative COVID-19 test results – to ensure individuals comply with the correct testing timeframe based on their vaccination status.

I’m responsible for my own happiness. When I look in the mirror, I smile even if I don’t feel like it. Why? The mirror reflects the image that I want to see for myself. The mirror tells the truth.
