Our guests come to explore the wide array of dining options and foodie destinations, our award-winning Ballard Brewery District, the iconic Hiram M. Chittenden "Ballard" Locks, our National Nordic Museum, stunning waterfront and enjoy our cozy historic Seattle neighborhood vibes. The Ballard Alliance/Visit Ballard team is excited to announce the addition of Ballard Ambassadors to the neighborhood. Our friendly ambassador teams will be greeting visitors, providing wayfinding and assisting business owners every Wednesday through Sunday, from 8 AM - NOON & 6 - 10 PM. If you see our ambassadors out in their Ballard Alliance branded uniforms, be sure to say hello and introduce yourselves!

Staff that play together - stay together. 🥾🌄 The Ballard Alliance/Ballard SeafoodFest team is a hearty bunch who love trekking through the streets of Ballard as much as the beautiful mountains of Washington. The Ballard Alliance team took advantage of a staff outing yesterday to continue building camaraderie and gain a birds-eye view of the neighborhood.

The Seattle Times published an op-ed authored by the Ballard Alliance, in collaboration with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce and the North Seattle Industrial Association, that highlights significant concerns regarding the proposed Route 40 bus changes and the potential impact on our communities.

Welcome to Ballard! The Ballard Alliance / Visit Ballard team installed welcome banners along NW Market Street and Leary Ave NW today.

The new banners help enhance Ballard’s public realm, welcome visitors, celebrate the neighborhood’s Indigenous and Scandinavian history, and support the Visit Ballard brand. The talented artist Paige Pettibon, Ballard Alliance, People People studio, and representatives from the National Nordic Museum collaborated to develop the three designs.

“The team that helped develop these designs was deeply committed to representing Ballard’s rich Nordic and Coast Salish cultures. With my background in Coast Salish art, I was able to identify and draw parallels with Nordic folk art. Working alongside the Nordic Museum, we discovered a beautiful way to harmoniously incorporate elements from both cultures,” said Pettibon.

This project was funded by the City of Seattle Office of Economic Development’s Neighborhood Economic Relief Fund.

A big thank you to everyone who made this project a reality! We hope our locals and visitors enjoy the vibrant banners as much as we do.

It's a beautiful day in neighborhood! And the Ballard Alliance just made it more beautiful, with the addition of flower pots in the business core.

The Ballard Alliance just installed new planter globes on the sidewalks at the intersection of NW Market Street, 22nd Avenue NW and Leary Way as part of a pilot street beautification project. The goal of this installation is to brighten the Ballard streetscape with vibrant flowers and greenery.

These self-watering planters will be in full bloom for summer and will remain in place until early fall. The Ballard Alliance is partnering with Uplift NW to provide bi-weekly watering service. A special thanks to Kristie Kisbye, owner of Annie's Art and Frame, for helping with plant identification and design. Although this is a pilot project, the Alliance's goal is to expand it in future years.

Another successful Day of Service in the books! This year, the Ballard Alliance worked to beautify Ballard by creating a community-painted mural on the panels of the kiosk at Bergen Place Park.

We also performed litter and graffiti abatement throughout the neighborhood. Despite the rain, we had over 25 volunteers come out!

We couldn't have done it without Tori Shao, PLA who created the mural concept and stencil; Cole Palea with & Property Services, who supplied the paint for the mural; Max Genereaux owner of Hattie's Hat, Ballard Smokeshop and The Sunset Tavern, who replaced the boards and plexiglass on the kiosk; Mayor Harrell's office for planning the event and providing supplies, and the Ballard Alliance Public Art Committee for their ongoing support and guidance. A special shoutout to our Alliance team members, Wren Wilson and Wyatt Hoffman for taking the lead on this project. Finally, a huge thank you to our engaged and passionate community members for showing up and making a difference!

The community is cordially invited to the Seattle Parks and Recreation Ribbon-Cutting Celebration at Ballard Commons Park Children's Play Area on Saturday, April 20 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Bring the whole family to the park and enjoy free treats, youth performances from School of Rock, Ingraham High School Jazz Combo, Little Stars Improv Comedy, Seattle Public Library-Ballard Branch, local vendors and more. 🛝⚓

This project has been years in the making and we are thrilled to invite you to the Seattle Parks and Recreation Ribbon Cutting celebration on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event will showcase the new play area and feature youth performances, local vendors, treats and more.

The goal of the Children's Play Area project was to provide a new opportunity for year-round, active play for young children and their families in Ballard. The initial project was community-driven and led by the Ballard Alliance through grant funding from the Seattle Office of Economic Development. The construction project was managed by Seattle Parks and Recreation. Special thanks to the Parks Department and Councilmembers Dan Strauss and Sara Nelson for helping us make this project a reality.

The new children's play area includes inclusive nautical-themed play equipment, safety surfacing, seat walls, new park trees, and corresponding utility updates.

The Ballard SeafoodFest has been a production of the Ballard Alliance (formerly the Ballard Chamber of Commerce) since 1974 and is made possible each year by our generous sponsors and dedicated volunteers. All the proceeds from Ballard SeafoodFest are reinvested into the Ballard community through the programs, resources and events offered by the Ballard Alliance.

Each year the Ballard Alliance distributes ice melt to Ballard Improvement Area businesses preceding icy weather conditions. The organization offers this service to their BIA members in an effort to help keep pedestrians, residents and employees safer with the removal of ice on the sidewalks and entryways of brick and mortar businesses.

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, the Alliance team distributed 42 bags of ice melt to BIA members.

This service is a part of the Ballard Alliance's Clean and Safe initiatives.
