Cat here. This one’s for anyone concerned about seasickness on cruise ships. First and foremost, not all ships are built the same! Some are much larger than others, which are usually the ships I suggest to anyone like me who is prone to motion sickness. I’ve been cruising since I was 14, and I remember being so worried about seasickness. Fortunately, for most people on larger cruise ships, the motion of the ocean typically isn’t felt, depending on what part of the water you’re cruising. That plays a role as well in some cases. For example, a few years ago, I embarked on a smaller, older Royal Caribbean ship that departed from Baltimore en route to Bermuda. There was a storm on the way home, and given the size of the ship, the motion was impossible not to feel… and it was impossible for me to not feel brutally nauseated. I somehow managed to get to the cafe without needing a brown bag for assistance, and the crew was passing out green apples like farmer’s in the Fall, swearing by it for motion sickness healing. I was perplexed wondering how a green apple would help and how I was even going to stomach it at the time, but I was desperate. I took a few bites, and about 10-20 minutes later, as I lay in my darkened cabin, I felt like a new person. It was fascinating, baffling, and such a relief. All because of a green apple. 😅🍏 Here are some other tips to navigate the motion of the ocean (ALWAYS consult with a doctor first): 🌊 If you forget to throw Dramamine/Bonine in your bag, you can purchase it on the ship. 🌊 Motion sickness patches that you place behind your ear may also help. You can find them at your local drugstore or on Amazon. 🌊 If none of the above work- know that Mother Nature’s holistic remedies are just as powerful: green apples, ginger tea/candy, and bananas for potassium are all great nausea-blasters. #cruisetravel #cruiseship #cruiselife #seasick #motionsickness #traveltips
