October colours.
Raking leaves, picking the last blackberries and pears.
Going to the garden center one more time before they close for end of season.
Researching wooden flooring.
More raking, board games.

Sauna & cremant for the adults.
Movie night for the kids -

This is autumn in Sensby and around the Schlei.
It’s the low season, slow season, free beach and pumpkin season, the time to sit by the fire, play games and go to the sauna to relax and slow down.
Where the light is different, the leafs are coming down and days outside are windy and getting more chilly.
It’s a great time to be in the country, with far fewer tourists and people around.

If you haven’t made plans for the Hamburg school holidays yet - here’s your chance.

Kids house remake -
That was supposed to just keep the kids busy this weekend, ended up taking a bit more mum power than expected, but glad it turned out this way and we finally got to it. September is the perfect month for paint jobs!!

Spent the weekend sanding and painting - working our way slowly around the house, we’re repainting all the frames in the classic regional style: very dark green, with white.
So happy with the paint we chose and the outcome - you might not see it in the pictures, but being two Design & DIY freaks, we love the work that’s in the detail, and doing that work by hand.

Hydrangea happiness all around the terrace here.
One thing I learned today, that hydrangea comes from hydro/water and all that in Greek. Felt so obvious once you know it - but since they’re not usually called by their botanical name in German it just didn’t click.

Love it when a day has a real little nugget of new knowledge. 🤓🤓 (And happy to admit that;-)

Welcome to number 4.
And welcome to an account where sheds, gardens, red bricks, marshmallows and hammock play a big role.
Because in Sensby we do the outdoor work and all the garden and DIY projects - inside and out.
And once we’ve done that - the best way to conclude the day is with a sundowner in the hammock behind the shed, or in one of the deck chairs by the fire, roasting marshmallows.

What our guests say...
We really like sharing our place with families, groups of friends or as a small team offsite.
And it’s always nice to feel a connection with our guests.

As a host I really value:
1. Good up front communication, so I know a little bit about the party coming to stay
2. Knowing about additional needs or questions in advance so I can prepare well
3. Getting honest feedback - anything that was missing, anything broken, any suggestions - that really helps me.

As a guest I value:
1. Quick responses from hosts
2. Flexibility if possible, eg slightly later checkout if no other guests booked
3. Houses that match my expectations, ie I get what I saw on the pictures
