We are ready to go! Well, almost… still waiting for our guests… 😉
And we are off!
Heading down to Port Ghalib with M/Y Sea Legend for three safaris… diving in Daedalus, St John’s and Rocky & Zabargad - hopefully with some pelagic action! 😉

Scuba Scene is honoured to host three of the most celebrated Tec divers in the world (Karen van den Over, Sami Paakkarinen & Ahmed Gabr) for a week in August this year to explore some of the best deep dive sites in the Red Sea.
Throughout this week our guests will have a chance to experience the beauty of deep diving in the Northern Red Sea, and then discuss these dives with the professionals in the evening during talks, that we will live-stream whenever possible.
In these evening talks our four tec gurus will also share some of their personal diving experiences with us, plus what they thought of the dive sites we visited that day.
The itinerary planed for this week is:
Day one (first day out after arrival): general preparation of the equipment and equipment check dive at one of the sites in the area north of Hurghada.
Day two: Straits of Tiran - 100m dive in Thomas canyon.
Day three: Straits of Tiran - 85m dive on the wreck of the Lara at Jackson reef.
Day four: Gubal - two 50m dives on the wreck of the Rosalie Moller.
Day five: North Hurghada - 103m dive on the wreck of the Gulf Fleet 31.
Day six: North Hurghada - 90m dive in the continental rift at Shabrour Umm Gammar
The dive sites listed above are suitable for Extended Range divers and above.
We will have a limited number of spaces to offer for those that are keen to participate in this one-of-a-kind experience.
The trip price is 1710 $US per person (including VAT, excluding extras such as cylinder rentals and gasses).
You can join us by booking your place through Oyster Diving for UK divers ([email protected]), through All Star Liveaboards for international divers ([email protected]) or you can book directly with us or contact us with any questions at [email protected].

Hey everyone,
there is an update on the official website for registering incoming travelers to Egypt, again posted by the CDWS:
Please note that it has been decided to postpone using the website until further notice.
The website is still a pilot version, and the passengers will be allowed to enter to the country whether they registered through the website or not until it is complete and available for use.
Meaning, back to business as usual for now, filling paper versions of the Egyptian health declaration form.
Again, will keep you updated on any changes...
Have a lovely Easter!
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to make you aware of the latest changes in regulations for those planning to travel to Egypt. This is the information published by the Chamber of Diving and Watersports (CDWS):
In light of updating the precautionary measures at Egyptian airports, we would like to share with you the Egyptian official website for registering the incoming travelers during the global corona outbreak.
To ensure the safety of all travelers, the Egyptian Ministry of Health mandates that all incoming travelers must register at the official website, at least two days before starting their trip. Please note that failure to complete all registration steps in time may lead to the inability to review documents before arrival, and would increase the waiting time and to get the QR code for entering Egypt in order to facilitate their travel procedures.
www.visitegypt.gov.eg
Please share the link with all your visitors.
In the moment, registering on this site seems to require a lot of patience...
From what we understand, paper entry/health declaration forms are still handed out & collected for now, but it might be safer to try and register on this new 'Visit Egypt' portal anyway.
Will keep you posted on any other developments.
Hope to see you soon! :)
Your Scuba Scene Team

Congratulations to Jan Grzywna & Kathryn Cook for the landmark dives they completed on our BDE-shark trip on Scuba Scene this week. Jan did his 1000th dive, and Kathryn her 200th! Have you ever come across a 'ball' of feeding juvenile Striped Eel Catfish (Plotosus lineatus)? They can gather in tight groups of up to 100 individuals and create these amazing 'moving carpets' of fish... But have you ever seen an adult of the species? Normally solitary and very secretive, I have only ever seen them on a couple of night dives in the Egyptian Red Sea. Absolutely stunning - see photographs in the comments! Some more facts: Their first dorsal fin and both pectoral fins have highly venomous spines. There have been reported fatalities in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, mainly in fishing communities while cleaning nets. These catfish are known 'Lessepsian migrants', i.e. species that migrated from the Red Sea into the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal; they are now common in the Eastern Med. Interestingly, the venom of the Mediterranean catfish seems less potent & dangerous, possibly due to a dietary change. #scubasceneliveaboard #myscubascene #divingintheredsea
Beautiful way to spend the last of three days in the North - diving & snorkeling with Indian Ocean bottlenose dolphins in Shaab El Erg... 😀 #scubascene #scubasceneliveaboard #divingintheredsea #dolphins
Our boat might be in the Marina at the moment, but that does not mean the work stops! We will post pictures of the result once this is finished... 😉
This is the season for Silky Sharks in the Egyptian Red Sea... as a reminder of what is out there, waiting for all of us, here is a video from 2019. Let's hope we do not have to miss out on too much more of that... Btw, what exactly triggered her rather fast approach, I do not know... whatever it was, it made for a special encounter - as usual, right underneath the mooring boat! :-)
