“Fantastic, perfectly appointed place to stay! Was a great base for our long weekend ski trip. Kitchen has absolutely everything you could want. Lots of thoughtful touches from the board throughout, and the place is freshly remodeled and sparkling clean. Communication from the hosts was great and they provided a thorough guidebook. Cabin is close to neighbors but still feels isolated with a beautiful view out back.”

We absolutely loved our time at this cozy little cabin. It’s the perfect getaway for two people. We loved being tucked away in the snowy woods and waking up to the sun shimmering off the tranquil stream behind us. You get to enjoy all the privacy of this quiet community, while still feeling safe and having easy access to roads. Everything was well maintained and Larry is incredible at thinking of anything you might need to feel relaxed, cared for and enjoy your stay. He was excellent at communicating with and answering any questions we had. It was truly such a special and enjoyable time.

Black Bear Cottage update:

Now that we’ve had the cabin for 3 months and the short-term rental business has been more successful than we anticipated this quickly, we’ve decided to sell it. Due to the rental business success and the low inventory of updated cabins, it makes best business sense to sell it and move on to other opportunities.

So if you, or anyone you know, are in the market for a fully renovated cabin in a very special area (Sierra Park), PM me. It’s not yet listed, but will be soon.

Please do not hesitate to book a stay here. Not only was Larry extremely responsive and wonderful at easing my anxiety about being there during snow fall and a “storm”, but the stay was just overall amazing. Everything in their place is so thought out and pretty!! They even provide so much for you like a bottle of wine, milk, eggs, pretty much everything for a breakfast! Not only that, but it snowed the night before and the day we left. Absolutely beautiful!! Totally worth every penny. Thank you again for everything.

My single complaint with the cabin and host is that I can only give them 5 stars. Both are worthy of 20. The host, Larry, truly went above and beyond to ensure we were not just comfortable, but also safe. Our stay coincided with a severe winter storm, but Larry had already prepared the cabin with alternate sources of heat and power. It was very impressive. Besides emergency preparedness, Larry was a generous, friendly, and readily responsive host. Though I only communicated with him through texts, that was all it ever took to have any and all of my questions answered in short order. As to the cabin, I could not imagine a cleaner or more comfortable place to enjoy a winter storm, and I do believe it had the softest bed I've ever slept in. lol I can not recommend this cabin highly enough!

We are often asked, 'so how is it going with the cabin?'
For those who are interested, here is an update below:

The Black Bear Cottage has been open for just under 2.5 months.

Number of reservations completed: 11 (36 Nights); Oct 21 - Dec 29
Number of reservations upcoming: 7 (26 Nights); Dec 30 - Feb 21

Total: 18 reservations; 35 Guests; 62 Nights (Ave. 3.44 nights per reservation)

Our goal is to have 15 nights rented per month.
Note: We block a full day between reservations.

Performance so far:

October 2022: 4 Nights (Listed after Oct. 15, 2022)
November 2022: 20 Nights
December 2022: 14 Nights (we blocked 9 days for maintenance and Christmas)
January 2023: 21 Nights (only 3 nights available)
February 2023: 3 Nights (still a bit early to have this month filled)

Black Bear Cottage: Larry was very communicative and fast responses time . The cabin was spotless clean and full of extra amenities. We felt very well taken care of . It was nice to have food , water and snacks for the stay. He also allowed one bottle of wine if we wanted .
The bed was incredible. Coziest bed I’ve slept on . (We want one now 😂)
All in all , it truly was the best we’ve ever experienced in a Airbnb.

Black Bear Cottage: Was an amazing place, very clean and well put together. Host provided many different amenities, like food, kitchen supplies, firewood, games, etc. My only complaint is the bathroom door because it’s a slide door and you can still see inside through the big gap, not much privacy. Overall it was an amazing stay and would stay again.
