Nature's music is inhabited by Uttarakhand. The roots of the song and music here are associated with nature. Just as the costumes of Uttarakhand are somewhat different, the song-music and instruments (musical instruments) are also different here. Over time, the songs and music have become somewhat bleak and modern instruments have replaced old instruments. But even today, on special occasions, religious ceremonies or festivals, the music of the place is marked.
Dhol-( Instrument of Uttarakhand)
The dhol made of copper or bronze and sal wood is the most prominent instrument in the Uttarakhand. It has a goat skin on its left pud (skin) and buffalo or reindeer skin on its right.
Damaun/Damama- Earlier it was used with war instruments and with regional kingdom, court carvings, but now it is a folk instrument. From this, all other folk dances (such as famous Uttarakhandi choliya dance) from religious dances are performed by This instrument.
Mainly this instrument made of copper is like a bowl of one foot diameter and 8 inches deep. It is made of thick leathery (skins-buffalo,goat,reindeer etc) at its mouth.
