It’s always wonderful partnering with BWRC, University of Tennessee and Mercy College for our annual Small Animal Veterinary Experience (SAVE). It’s one of our great joys to provide free veterinary care where it’s needed, and learning opportunities to international students.

We had a fantastic day at the 7 Mile Animal Health Clinic. This is part of Small Animal Veterinary Experience (SAVE), a bi-annual vet course. This in partnership with the Belize Wildlife Clinic, University of Tennessee and Mercy College.

Our thanks goes out to Tulsa University with their first study abroad program to Belize. During their interdisciplinary program they learned about Pan-American health challenges and approaches, Women’s Health, One Health, Governmental and Private Social Services, and visited local Schools and the Octavia Waight Center. This was a one-of-a-kind learning based trip. Thanks to Therapy Abroad for helping set up the trip.

Justin and Jaime, I wanted to personally thank you all for your hospitality and kindness. The opportunity to learn from you and your guidance on the culture and introducing us to the wonderful people. I’m incredibly proud for Discovery Global Travel to be part of the Caribbean Veterinary Medical Association conference this week at the San Ignacio Hotel. Dr. Isabelle and her staff at BWRC have done an outstanding job. Beyond all expectations. The presentations by and he President of the Commonwealth Association, Ministers and Dr. Palacio were a warm kick-off for this 4-day continuing education event attended by professionals from around the region and world.

We're super-excited to launch our new not-for-profit organization Global Development Partners. So much of the educational travel work that we do involves community service, so we've decided to formalize it!

Global Development Partners mission is: Supporting Sustainable Development through international and local partnerships.

And as such, this January we made our first donation to the Octavia Waight Center in San Ignacio, Belize.

Sixth year University of Minnesota has been with us in Belize and Guatemala! They do so much! Marine Ecology in Placencia, Wildlife Medicine at the Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic, Tropical Ecology at Las Cuevas, and a capstone trip to Guatemala! Here we’re on temple 4!

"This is the first time our graduate program has worked with Discovery Global Travel, but we hope it won't be the last! Justin and his team gave the students an experience of a lifetime, and made sure that everything ran smoothly along the way. What we appreciated the most about the trip was that it allowed us to better understand the experiences of real communities and organizations in Belize, and to appreciate the challenges they face and the successes that they have won. Rather than a pre-packaged tourist junket, this trip afforded us the chance to learn from stakeholders across various sectors, and bring those lessons home to our own studies and communities. Of course, there were moments of wonder and awe (visits to Tikal and zip-lining were among our favorites!), but it was the immersive quality of the experience (the people, the culture, the food, etc.) that we treasure above all."
