☀️🌊Hey friends! We've had so many of you reach out to ask about the latest in Emerald Isle, so I'm here with an update. Vacation Rentals are back up and running as of May 9th, and our beaches are open (for walking, running, sitting, playing, water sports...). Restaurants are still closed for indoor dining, but many are offering take-out and delivery.

Most April and May guests had to cancel and a couple others later in the Summer, but once allowed to book rentals again, we were booked solid within an hour. As of right now, our home is booked all the way through October, but there may be cancellations. We can post those available dates here as we go.

Guests and soon-to-be guests, thank you so much for making this a great year at our new vacation rental. We're thrilled to have you all enjoy our little slice of sunshine. 🌊☀️

Another place to explore when you go to Emerald Isle... the sound side! There are public accesses for boats, paddle boarding, and kayak launching. From the house, you can easily walk, drive or bike over to Emerald Woods, then take a short hike through the woods to reach this spot right here. Isn’t it beautiful! ☀️

☀️🌊 Hello friends! We hope you and your families are well during these crazy times. We've had so many of you reach out over the last couple weeks looking for a getaway at Southern Sunshine, and we really wish we could accommodate you!! The Town of Emerald Isle is not allowing any short term vacation rentals on the island through April 30th at this time. The public beach accesses are closed, and the double red flag is up, indicating no one is allowed to enter the ocean.

Once we have an update, we will share that here. If rentals are allowed again beginning in May, we will have some availability from recent cancellations, so stay tuned. Take care and be safe out there. 🌊☀️

Checking out the newest addition in Emerald Plantation, Turtley Sweet, a short walk or bike ride from the house. This cute shop features ice cream, candy and gifts. I recommend the Salty Caramel Truffle ice cream. So good you’ll want the double scoop.🍦🍭🍬

The new pool heater is installed, and the cover is in place! Heating it up for guests coming this week, and we're excited to offer this option for guests coming during Spring, Fall and even Winter months when it's warm enough outside 😎☀️

Who loves a beach getaway AND running? ☀️🌊 The Emerald Isle Marathon and Half Marathon is coming up on March 28th, and our home is available that weekend for anyone interested in both. Or for anyone who doesn't like running at all 😀

The Emerald Isle Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K is on Saturday March 28, 2020. It includes the following events: Emerald Isle Marathon, Emerald Isle Half Marathon, and Emerald Isle 5K.

RuckerJohns is of my favorite places to eat in EI, and it’s just a short walk or ride from the house. Casual spot, great food, and family friendly! And their croissants are ridiculously good 👍

We rode bikes down to The Point this week, and it was 100% worth the ride! 🚴🏻‍♀️ Just three miles from the house (taking the EI bike path) is the beautiful end of the island, that’s known for its incredible views and seashell finds ❤️☀️🌊

I was looking back through photos this morning and ran across a shot of one of our bedrooms from when we first saw the house in July. It wasn't long before I was dreaming of shiplap walls, and Doug and his Dad knocked it out of the park installing shiplap in both second floor bedrooms. I love a good before-and-after, and especially love how this room came out! ❤️🌊☀️

A garage stocked full of bikes to use during your stay? Yes please 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️ Our collection will grow, but for now we have five adult bikes, four kid bikes, a bike trailer for the littles and bike helmets for guests to use. Emerald Isle has a bike path running the length of the island, so it’s the perfect place to go for a ride.
