Long-tailed Tyrant (Colonia colonus)

Nests and feeds in stumps and dead trees pocked with protruding carpenter holes, fairly well away from other vegetation in moist woodland areas: recent clearings, partially cleared areas, abandoned crops, along watercourses, near openings caused due to falls from trees within the forest or on dry trunks in the upper part of the canopy; catches flying insects in flight, especially stingless bees (Trigona), often after long flights with intricate maneuvers; usually in pairs whose members perch on nearby perches on exposed branches or twigs.

Central American Pygmy Owl ~ Glaucidium griseiceps

Feeds mainly on insects and spiders, and takes small mammals, birds and other vertebrates.
Little is known about the breeding biology of the Central American Pygmy Owl. It apparently nests in abandoned woodpecker holes, and perhaps also in openings in old termite nests on trees.
It has been reported to lay a clutch of two to four eggs in April and May.

Habitat: Humid tropical evergreen forest and humid bushland. Also mature and abandoned plantations and semi-open, bushy landscapes. Ranges from sea-level up to about 1300m.

Snowy Egret

Among the most elegant of the herons, the slender Snowy Egret sets off immaculate white plumage with black legs and brilliant yellow feet. Those feet seem to play a role in stirring up or herding small aquatic animals as the egret forages. Breeding Snowy Egrets grow filmy, curving plumes that once fetched astronomical prices in the fashion industry, endangering the species.
