Inuit throat singing - as a very intimate competition:

Inuit throat singing was something women did to make each other laugh while the men were out hunting.

Pretty things.

Flying on American Airlines from Chicago to NYC, we had an eyeful of beauty above the clouds. These cumulus wonders billowed and twisted up into the shapes of everything from bunnies to nuclear explosions. Here’s a handful of my favorite shots.

Some stormy glory in the midwest!

The midwest is experiencing some major storms, and as my husband and I drove from Cleveland to Chicago across the Ohio turnpike yesterday, we had quite an eyeful of gothic American midwestern beauty. He grabbed my phone and took the following photos with Hipstamatic. I think the filters add to the g

The final day in France. Thanks for reading!

On our final day in Paris, France, we woke up early to catch a train to Louis XIV’s Palace of Versailles. You can get there very easily; just take the underground Metro to the RER. Most Metro maps include the RER, so look toward the southwest corner of your map for a train that has a letter instead

Have you ever had a bed picnic? What did you have?

After an unforgettable meal at Ledoyen, we hopped back on the Metro and rode it to Monmartre, where we took the funicular up to Sacre Coeur. “Funicular” is one of my favorite words.

Affordable hotel review!

After a glorious, if brief, two night stay at the luxurious Four Seasons George V in Paris, France, my husband and I were in the market for something a little more reasonably priced. We managed to find an excellent deal at Hotel Lindbergh, which we found recommended in the New York Times travel sect

A few museums and the finest meal of our lives.

This article is only about places that start with L. It wasn’t on purpose. We started our morning with The Louvre. When you marry someone with an art degree (my husband is a medical illustrator with a grad degree in digital compositing and matte painting), you prepare to throw down your whole day fo

Get ready for decadence.

Due to an unusually wonderful circumstance: my sister’s wedding, my husband and I had the pleasure of two nights at The Four Seasons George V in Paris, France. So. We’re in Paris, France. Last we left you, we were heading into Au Dernier Metro, above. This bar/brasserie/bistro, etc, was picked by my husband Tony and crazier than a bag of hammers inside (below). We loved it. We ordered two salads. A splendid morning in Paris with lots of pics.

Paris will always be, to me, a place where wonderful things happen. This trip has certainly been no exception, as yesterday, my sister got married in an absolutely beautiful ceremony followed by one of the finest meals of my life at the Four Seasons George V (above). Since then, my husband and I hav

When we checked in early at our Paris hotel, we were told our room was luckily already ready. Then, we arrived to find the maid cleaning it. We went back downstairs and the woman at the desk apologized, saying "She was confused. She is in love."

Last day in Valencia. Too quick!!

There was no siesta for me today in Valencia, as it’s my last day and I wanted to squeeze in as much as possible. I’m currently full, aching and so happy. I really do love Valencia. I wonder if it’s the city or if it’s Spain that I love. It’s my first time here. I will have to come back.

I saw the holy grail today!

I’m only spending two full days in Valencia (or “Balenthia,” as they say it) and today was the first one. I visited so many wonderful sites I can hardly begin to list them, but it included vast cathedrals, the Tin Soldier Museum, the Bullfighting Museum, a horchateria, and more — all before lunch.
