Bottoms Up Mugs was born out of a conversation that I had with my guitar player (Sarah Dawn of www.AuburnCourt.com) on one of our many trips to rehearsal. We were discussing the state of the world and how it seems as though the only news that gets attention is the bad news. Murders, natural disasters, corrupt politicians, etc. We decided that we should do a "Youtube" show called "The Good News" an
d we would cover only good and uplifting news. It was then that we decided that we (the newscasters) would have big smiley faces on the bottoms of our mugs that would be visible to the viewers. Just light humor to spread good news with a smile...
Well after a couple of years and a beautiful daughter later, the idea of the smiley face coffee mug came back to me. The world had not gotten any better, in fact it seemed worse, and it seems as though there is even more need for a change. As a new mother all I want for my child is a safe place where she can get a great education and have the chance to grow up and have the opportunity to change the world. I want her to have music available to her in school, Christmas plays, field trips, slumber parties, all the stuff that I had as a kid that nowadays seem endangered, if not extinct. I know it may seem a little far fetched to some to think that the world can be changed by a single novelty gift but I know that this is my contribution and if I can bring a smile to one persons face then I consider myself a success. I welcome everyone to send me stories of success; over coming challenges, an ode to someone who did something nice for you, an A on a tough exam, anything that you feel is worth sharing and could inspire others to do better as well. As a long term goal for Bottoms Up Mugs I aim to work with an organization (even if I have to start one myself) that works with kids who have lost a parent in an auto accident. I worked in a personal injury law firm for many years and this is very close to my heart. This is just the beginning of what I hope will be a long and fulfilling journey and I look forward to all that the universe and future has in store for me. Until then... Bottoms Up!
