Selby’s, new 1 Michelin star in Redwood City near Atherton.

Not in the nicest part of neighborhoods but they do provide valet parking to make up for it.

The best dish was the duck breast, it is cooked to perfection with the skin done like the skins of toasted baby piglets, crispy yet soft that melts in your mouth.

Second best dish is the cauliflower soup with a mixture of richness and texture.

Not impressed about the pork chop. It’s similar to Japanese pork Katsu. Ok for street food, but not as a 1 star main entree dish. The crab tortellini was just ok, nothing too special and the tuna tartare was so so by the house made potato chips as a base was nicely done.

Luce, located in the intercontinental hotel in sf. Everything is good looking and tastes decently, but I’m sad to only one dish has the wow effect, the Alaskan crab leg with the lobster bisque as the sauce, where the ingredients did most of the work, but the sauce was a very nice touch.

The trout was over cooked and the duck and lamb are sous vide without much a personality.

Dishes feel mass produced and service is a bit rushed. Good food but not stunning food.

O' is Chef Claude Le Tohic's inaugural solo venture after earning Meilleur Ouvrier de France, winning the James Beard Award for Best Chef in America and carrying the coveted 3-Michelin star rating at Joël Robuchon Las Vegas.

This is a great find as it's the Joël Robuchon coming to SF. It has many qualities of Joël Robuchon, like the delicious bread offering and the chocolate cart in the end.

What struck us most are a couple of dishes are ridiculously delicious, and I don't use these words lightly.

- The egg-shaped caviar bowl with creamy lobster jelly
- The duck liver royal with truffle ragout has an almost Charamushi like smooth texture.
- Ruby red grape fruit.

The rest of dishes are good, but not exceptional. The dessert is bit disappointing, as that's not even close to the black forest of Joël Robuchon. They need to up their game there.

Overall, definitely a new winner in SF!

Robin in SF, A great new find and it beats many of favorites. Excellence in quality of the fish, the preparation with different sauces and bold mixes of vegetables and fruits, and quantity (I was actually full afterwards). I think I found our new favorite in town.

Navio, our favorite place for major celebrations. The protocol during COVID is different than its normal buffet format, while it is still all you can eat,

1) a waiter has to take your orders and you can only order 2 dishes at a time.
2) the menu was substantially reduced - no foie gras, no clams/mussels, no dimsum
3) however some nice additions to the menu as well, like lobster tail, duck breast.

Initially it was very annoying that the waiter comes back very infrequently. They were just busy, but the experience for customers was that “hey, it’s a buffet, why am I waiting to be serve?” It feels like we are begging for food.

After complaining to management, the waiter came every 3 minutes trying to help us order the next round, within 30 minutes, we were completely stuffed.

It was a good experience after all, but I wish they bring back the pre-COVID experience.
