2025 will be the year of Cézanne in Aix en Provence. The city is planning a tour of the main sites frequented by the artist, while a major exhibition is being prepared at the Granet Museum. Cézanne 2025 is already underway with rehabilitation or restoration projects for emblematic places linked to the painter. This is the case for the artist’s Sainte Victoire refuge, the Lauves workshop and the Jas de Bouffan estate.
To date, nearly 70 works have already been confirmed for international loans from major American, European, Japanese museums... with, of course, a partnership with the Musée d'Orsay and the Petit Palais, so that we can find masterpieces painted by Cézanne at the bastide of Jas-de-Bouffan.
In 2025, the emblematic painter of the city of Aix en Provence and it’s famous mountain, La Sainte Victoire, will be in the spotlight through a cultural journey going from his workshop to the mountainside Bibémus quarries via the Jas de Bouffan estate where the painter spent part of his life. A year which is already being prepared with the restoration spaces and living places linked to the artist.
With a view to 2025, Cezannes studio and former estate (Jas de Bouffan) will be renovated and opened for tours.
His Lauves workshop, also called the Paul Cézanne workshop, was built according to the artist's plans in 1901. The workshop, which has become a museum, can be visited today and welcomes around a hundred thousand visitors each year.
The restored Bastide of Jas de Bouffan, home of Paul Cezanne, is in the final stretch for renovations to the home and park. This is a major project for the city of Aix en Provence where Cezanne grew up, lived and painted from 1859 to 1899.
The large glass roof, once created at the request of Louis-Auguste Cézanne for his son Paul's workshop, has found its place again. The garden now has shrubs, fruit trees and a meadow. Pond, ornamental fountains and terracotta statues have been restored. The Bastide and property will be included in the tour route for Cézanne 2025.
