For the first time our tours will leave Morocco and venture into new territories as we now offer Mauritania Expeditions.

Over 15 days our route will take in the following highlights
Iron Ore Train Piste
Ben Amira - the worlds second largest rock monolith
Desert Towns of Atar, Chinguetti, Tidjika
Search for the Desert Crocodiles.
Nouakchott and Nouhadibou, Mauritania’s main cities.
Banc D’Arguin National Park

Mauritania will give you an Overland experience like no other destination as we explore this vast Saharan country. The route covers long distances off road through unspoilt desert and mountain landscapes This will require a level of flexibility and team work from everyone who takes part but we feel that’s what will make this trip unique.

Dates and Group Sizes
The Mauritania Expeditions will only run during March and November to avoid the extreme temperatures of the desert. A scheduled tour will take place every 2 years but ad hoc tours are available for group booking and if there is sufficient interest.

To run a Mauritania Expedition we need a minimum of 2 vehicles but groups will be no larger than 6 vehicles.

If you would like to join an expedition, contact us to register your interest and we will be in touch with you when we have enough vehicles to run a tour

Expedition Format
These trips will be run as an Expedition rather than a Tour. This means there will be a need to be more self sufficient during the trip as we do not have the same level of support available in Mauritania compared to Morocco. Mechanic Services are limited and both you and your vehicle will need to be prepared to the highest level for these trips. Every aspect of these expeditions is harder than travelling in Morocco, we cover much longer distances off road with fuel range of over 1000km required. There are limited resupply points and we will be wildcamping for most of the trip

Start & Finish Point
The Mauritania Expeditions start in finish in Dakhla, Morocco. As with several of our routes, we do not believe in charging customers to guide them along good main roads.

The group will meet in Dakhla at a recommended hotel and go out for a meal so we can all get to know each other before the tour starts.

On our return north there is the possibility to include the legendary Dakar Route north east over 4 days. This would be subject to vehicles being OK after the Mauritania leg. This supplement would be an additional £300 per car.

Pricing
The pricing structure for the Mauritania expeditions is variable and dependent on the group size. As with our other tours prices are per vehicle with up to 2 people, there is an additional fee of £200 per person for extra passengers. This includes all campsite fees.

Note - Hotels in Dakhla are not included in the price.

1 - 2 Vehicles = £2500
3 - 4 Vehicles = £2300
5 - 6 Vehicles = £2000

Happy Yennayer 2975

Yennayer is the Amazigh New Years celebration. It translates as First Month and also marks the start of the Black Nights, a 20 day period that is one of the coldest times of year.

Legend tells that during the last days of Yennayer a courageous lady braved the fury of winter and took her goat grazing. In retaliation for the old women’s insolence, Yennayer took an extra day from Furar (February) causing her to suffer an extra cold night.

Happy New Year to all our Customers, Colleagues and Friends.

And what a year it has been, with everything from Porsches to 4x4 Vans joining us, all creating unique challenges. Hopefully this set of photos does the year justice.

8 tours in 6 months across Morocco, the Western Sahara and of course, Mauritania. Covering almost 40 000km in this fantastic part of the world.

Our 3rd Pizzas on the Piste was the biggest yet with 45 people attending from as far afield as the USA and Canada

We’ve made lots of new friends and had great adventures with some old ones.
