Final Thoughts on Disney Wish:

My family had a wonderful experience. Does my husband love Disney like my son and I? No. BUT, he loved the Disney cruise!! With everything being elevated, from our room to our dining experiences, we definitely feel we got what we paid for. Actually, when I break down pricing, we don’t feel like we overpaid for our Disney Cruise.

You can do as much “Disney” as you want, or have it not be so in your face. If you want to meet characters you can, or you can walk right past them to get to what you do want to do.

My son really enjoyed the Tween club. Chess, video games, fun challenges, and snacks. He usually forgoes the kid clubs but had a great time and wanted to go to this one. They break down the kid clubs into different ages, but also have a recreation area for all ages. This includes sports courts, air hockey, foosball, and the Hero Zone.

The adult areas are so nice! The infinity pool on the back of the ship was so relaxing. Having certain lounges and places that did not allow children was nice for those that were taking a break from Mom and Dad duties, 18 and older guests and those traveling without children.

Here are my could be improved thoughts:

The muster station drill. Disney has everyone on the ship do this at the same time. This is right before the sail away party on the main deck. Once the muster drill was over… all 4,000 people on board and using the elevators and stairs trying to get to the same place. Other brands have you visit your muster station at your own pace prior to the sail away party and there isn’t a mad dash to the main deck.

Character greets in the dining rooms. It isn’t really a greet. No time for photos(they are so fast, your pictures will be blurry). Unlike Disney Character Dining at the resorts/parks where you get a few minutes to hug and take pictures. I know you can wait in lines throughout the day to get pictures on board, it just caught me off guard on how fast the fist bump or wave went in the dining rooms.

The chairs on the balconies are just for sitting, where other cruise lines provide more relaxing options. (My husband’s input)

Will we cruise Disney again? Absolutely! Will we cruise other cruise lines? Absolutely! Disney is SO GOOD and worth every penny!

Let me know if I can help you book your next cruise! Remember, it does not cost you extra to use a travel agent and I am here to help you every step of the way, from which ship is best for you, to what to pack, and how to navigate travel while on and off the ship.

Part 3: Castaway Cay and Entertainment

Castaway Cay is one of Disney’s private islands. It is well kept and a great stop. They offer a tram to get you to the various parts of the island if you do not want to walk.

Castaway Cay offers several “excursions” you can book prior to your cruise. Stingray cove, parasailing, jet skis, snorkel boat, banana boats, Cabana rentals, and many more. You can also go to Castaway Cay and not spend a dime. Lunch, soft drinks and soft serve ice cream are all included on the island.

Castaway Cay offers plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas for their guests. The beaches are clean and wait staff are constantly circling to make sure you have everything you need. Lifeguards are plentiful on the island and lifejackets are free to use. They do offer floats and snorkel gear for rental fees.

Castaway Cay has character meet and greets set up throughout the island. You can even earn a 5K medal by walking/running the route on the island. Basketball courts, pool tables, splash pads and shopping can keep you busy if you don’t want to visit the beach.

The entertainment on the ship was over the top! The Wish offered Little Mermaid and Aladdin. The set decorations were beautiful the actors/actresses were top notch. Sit downstairs if you want a little “pixie dust” during the shows!

The sail away party was fun with characters and Princesses dancing and singing. The entertainment staff did a great job with character meet and greets, trivia, bingo, kids clubs and more. There really is something for everyone!

Part 2: Disney Wish Food and Beverage Review

The Disney Wish offers rotational dining. They have three main dining rooms and you visit one dining room each night. 1923, Marvel and Arrendale. 1923 is a nod to Walt and Roy Disney and is decorated with artwork from when Disney was just an idea and being developed. Marvel is themed around the avengers movies and Spiderman makes an appearance at dinner. Arrendale is a dinner show with the characters from Frozen. Each menu is designed to accompany the theme of the restaurant.

We did not have a bad meal. The food is definitely a step up compared to other cruise brands. You may order as many courses/options as you would like. Your wait staff rotate through the dining rooms with you. Our staff remembered drink choices and would have them ready for us as soon as we sat down. They use your first name and go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with your meal.

Dining options not only include the 3 main dining options. Marceline Market is a is fully stocked buffet. I’ve never seen crablegs included on a buffet at sea. The buffet is all you can eat and offers such a variety of options. Salads, meats, sides, international dishes… you name it, it is there. Outside of the buffet, you can choose to eat at Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods. Goofy’s grill (hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, bratwurst, chickenn fingers), Donald’s Cantina(tacos, burritos and bowls), Mickey’s smokehouse Barbeque(brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, ribs, Mac and cheese, collard greens), Daisy’s Pizza Pies(pizza), and Sweet Mini’s(unlimited soft serve ice cream. Room Service is included in your cruise fare and can be ordered as much as you like, even to deliver Mickey ice cream bars!

The upcharge options include the Chef’s table Enchante, Palo Steakhouse, and Joyful Sweets. We did not visit these locations while on the ship, but spoke with many who did. “Definitely worth it, especially if you are on the cruise more than three nights.” This was a common quote I heard from others who have cruised on the Wish several times.

The service is incredible on the ship! The servers work extremely hard to keep you happy. We experienced this throughout the ship and not just in the dining rooms.

The Wish does not offer beverage packages. Soft drinks(coke products), water and juices are included in the cruise fare. Alcoholic beverages are purchased as you go. The Wish has plenty of bars and elevated lounge experiences for adults. Hyperspace lounge offers an out of this world experience, Tiana’s bayou is delightful with live music, Nightingales provides sing-a-long piano music, The Keg & Compass is the sports bars with lots of TV’s, and The Rose is elegant with views of the Ocean. There are other small bars around the ship for grab and go beverages.

Coffee bars are also an option on the Wish. They will even top your coffee off with a Disney character of your choice. These are an extra charge.

Part 1: Disney Wish Ship Review 🛳️

The Wish is beautiful, the theming is classy and the ship is so clean!!

My family really appreciated the split bathroom in our stateroom. I wasn’t sure this would make that big of a difference, but it was amazing!

We really enjoyed having a varandah on this trip and it was even better having connecting rooms with our family. They opened a door between our balcony’s and it makes you feel like you have so much more space.

The beds on the Wish are the best beds I’ve slept in on a cruise. The rooms are very quiet for a cruise ship. The closet had great storage and an ample amount of hangers. There was plenty of space to unpack and being able to slide our suitcases under the bed gave us even more space in the closet. The bathrooms even had plenty of storagege space for us to fully unpack.

The ship offers so many activities for kids and adults throughout the day. Character meet and greets, trivia, kids clubs, drawing lessons, movies, pools, aquamouse, dance parties, sports courts, hero zone and much more!

If you are a casino person, Disney does not have a casino on board, so this may not be the ship for you.

The public bathrooms on this ship amazed me. Normally, I feel so cramped, but this ship had plenty of room and each stall was completely private. The bathrooms are extremely clean and provide enough space for all guests including those that may need a wheelchair.

There are plenty of shops on board. Lots of Disney merchandise but also luxury items including jewelry and watches.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the Disney Wish! Clean, comfortable and plenty of options with or without children.

Royal Caribbean: Voyager of the Seas Review

We spent 5 nights leaving out of Port Canaveral and stopping at Cozumel, Mexico and Perfect Day at Coco Cay in the Bahamas. Voyager of the Seas is a great price point compared to newer Royal Caribbean Mega Ships.

The boat had plenty of activities for guests of all ages. Ice Skating, pools, water slides, sports court, kids clubs, flow rider, casino, spa and an arcade.

The ship had three specialty dining options, Italian, Asian and a steakhouse. All of these were available for an additional fee. We did the Asian and steakhouse and were very pleased with both!

Entertainment included silent disco, game shows, Bingo, Karaoke, comedian, sports classes, and various hosted events.

Where she shined✨Tons of family friendly activities, premium alcohol, service, decent cruise food, never felt overly crowded, and Coco Cay Royal Caribbean’s private island is amazing 🤩

Things to consider🧐 Small state rooms (we had a balcony room) only 1 power outlet, small pools, clarification of upgraded services(the key) and night time entartainment(shows).

Would I go again? Absolutely!! Would I recommend for others? You bet! Would I love to help you book your next vacation? Of course, send me a message and you can BookItwithBarrett! 🛳️🏝️✈️✅

Beloved Food and Room Review:
The food was on par with other Excellence resorts. Beloved has French, Italian, Seafood and Steakhouse restaurants… but the star of the show is the Taco Truck! 24 hour room service is included and the resort also has a coffee shop that serves pastries and ice cream.
We stayed in a beachfront casita with private pool. I highly recommend this room! We loved the private pool as it was the coolest temperature of all the pools at the resort and it was extremely private. We had a server come around to our private pool every 25-30 minutes so we never wanted for anything. Our room temperature was cold which was amazing to combat the heat of August in Cancun. Our mini fridge was stocked daily with soda, beer, water, juices and several snacks. Room service seemed to come much faster at this smaller resort. I can’t recommend this room category enough!!

Beloved Playa Mujeres: Resort Review
Beloved is a quiet boutique property associated with the Excellence brand that we love so much. This property has 108 rooms and is located between Excellence Playa Mujeres and La Amada Residences. This property has 4 restaurants, a food truck, 24 hour room service, a full service spa, coffee shop, and two bars.
Just like the Excellence resorts, service is top tier and everything is truly all inclusive. The staff at this resort make you feel like family and work extremely hard to make sure you have the best vacation. The grounds are lush and well taken care of. It is extremely easy to navigate the small property. There is no towel game, easy to find a lounger at the main pool, swim up pools, or a palapa on the beach
The nightlife is simple and relaxing. No large shows, but enjoyable more relaxing evening entertainment is provided. Most entertainment concludes around 10-10:30.
I would definitely return for short stays but would not recommend for longer than 4 nights unless you truly need a very low key vacation.

Port Orleans- Riverside review:
Riverside is a beautiful moderate property at Disney world. It has bus and boat transportation (Disney Springs) and shares amenities with Port Orleans-French Quarter.
Pros: this is a great price point for a Disney resort! Having shared amenities with French Quarter and transportation between the two resorts is a plus.
Cons: large property with 4 bus stops, main transportation is by bus, and for a moderate resort it left me wanting more out of my experience.
