As we were dreaming of where to build, South Dakota and Colorado were definitely top contenders. We both grew up in SD and both have a deep love for CO, but we landed on closer to home in Minnesota. MN has so much to offer and Itasca State Park has been our spot to go for camping, hiking, and day trips when we need to get into nature.

“We absolutely loved our stay! Tiny Cabin Wald not only allows you to bare winter, but shows you how to embrace & thrive in a winter wonderland! We were able to do so much while here. We played board games, completed a couple of puzzles, went snow shoeing, made an indoor & outdoor fire, cooked two meals in The Local & so much more. Thank you for sharing this lovely part of Minnesota with us! Bo (our pup) doesn’t want to leave & we understand the feeling.”

There are two types of guests at Northwoods, the relaxers and the innovators. Some come to get away from it all and to turn their brains off. They come to soak in nature, stillness, and tranquility. Other guests come to be inspired, to get creative, and to brainstorm. Although they are away from their day to day life, they come to a new space to find inspiration.

At Northwoods we have space for both the relaxer and the innovator in the Makerspace. In the lower level of the A-Frame, you can brainstorm, mind map, develop and plan. You can also paint, color, draw, journal, and read.

The Makerspace is for everyone and we’d love to see how YOU enjoy it!

When you arrive to stay at Nord + Wald, you will park at the Bathhouse and walk to the Tiny Cabin. Golf carts are available to rent from May to October. The Tiny Cabins do not have running water so the Bathhouse is the place where you can brush, wash, and flush. You will have your own private bathroom with a walk-in tiled shower in the Bathhouse. You can drop off your toiletries when you arrive and leave them there for your stay. The Local is shared with both Tiny Cabins and has a stove, sink, dishwasher, and dining table to share a meal or play a board game.

2022 was the year we finished construction and hosted our first guests at the A-Frame + Tiny Cabins! We have met some amazing people this year and are thankful for the connections and new friendships. Cheers to 2023! ✨
