Would you be interested? We are considering creating a chili cook-off on Padre Island to benefit Alzheimer’s. We would charge $25 a team and five dollars for a tasting packet for the general public and include a tasting cup, spoon, and token to vote on a people’s choice award. I participate at the Lukenbach chili cook-off yearly, and I think it would be fun to bring all the Island folks together to do something similar, and all moneys collected will go directly to a charity.

On this day in LEX history, two important things happened! ⚓️

On October 1, 1952, USS Lexington CV-16 was reclassified as an “Attack Aircraft Carrier” and redesignated as CVA-16.

Just ten years later, on October 1, 1962, USS Lexington CVA-16 was reclassified as an “Antisubmarine Warfare Support Aircraft Carrier” and redesignated as CVS-16.
