President of Hudson County Community College received the Partner in Education and Leadership Award
#NJ | Christopher M. Reber, President of the Hudson County Community College (HCCC), received the “Partner in Education and Leadership Award” at the Holiday Party held by the Hudson County Latin American Chamber of Commerce - hclacc in Wood-Ridge, #NewJersey, “in recognition of your exemplary leadership and unwavering support as a Stalwart Partnet in Education”. “Your dedication to the advancement of knowledge and community prosperity is truly commendable,” highlighted the #HudsonLatinChamber.
Dr. Christopher M. Reber has devoted his entire 40-year career to higher education. On July 1, 2018, he became the sixth president of Hudson County Community College (HCCC) in New Jersey. Located in one of the most densely populated and diverse areas of the United States, #HCCC serves more than 18,000 credit and noncredit students and 1,000 employees annually on three urban campuses near #NewYorkCity.
Dr. Reber is leading and supporting the College’s engagement in local, regional, and national #partnerships that support life-changing opportunities for students and the #community. He is committed to transparency and the full participation of students, faculty, staff, and community members in the life of the College. His #leadership priorities include student success, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Johnny Torres, Former Executive Director of Save Latin America, received Lifetime Achievement Award
#NJ | Johnny Torres, 94, one of the most prominent figures of the #Hispanic community in New Jersey and #NewYork, and who served as Executive Director of SLA- Save Latin America, Inc.—a 501 (c)(3) Community Based Organization, located in Union City, #NewJersey—received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the Holiday Party held by the Hudson County Latin American Chamber of Commerce - hclacc in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey.
The award was given to Torres “in appreciation and recognition to an outstanding leader for his exceptional contributions and long-term commitment,” highlighted the #HudsonLatinChamber. Mr. Torres oversaw for more than 26 years the operations of the Save Latin America’s three main components:
• A Community Resource Center, operating nine programs and providing thirty five day-to-day community services.
• A motivational program entitled Reaching Our Dreams (ROD).
• A Family Health Festival Series Program consisting of a series of one day health events in NY and NJ.
Johnny Torres also created the Institute for Human Development in New Jersey, giving motivational conferences and seminars. Subjects covered include: stress management, human relations, self improvement, self realization, small businesses and family relations.
