| Ms. Marisa Lago, Under Secretary for International Trade Administration at U.S. Department of Commerce, was the keynote speaker at the Special Session “Building Bridges to Global Markets”, held as part of the “2024 United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Legislative Summit”, event held this week at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, Washington, D.C.

Under Secretary Lago shared the stage with Ramiro Cavazos, President & CEO, United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), and with representatives of the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM), and the US Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA). The Special Session “Building Bridges to Global Markets” presented accurate information and addressed issues most common to small businesses seeking international expansion.

Dr. Christopher M. Reber has devoted his entire 40-year career to higher education. On July 1, 2018, he became the sixth president of Hudson County Community College (HCCC) in New Jersey. Located in one of the most densely populated and diverse areas of the United States, serves more than 18,000 credit and noncredit students and 1,000 employees annually on three urban campuses near .

Dr. Reber is leading and supporting the College’s engagement in local, regional, and national that support life-changing opportunities for students and the . | Johnny Torres, 94, one of the most prominent figures of the community in New Jersey and , and who served as Executive Director of SLA- Save Latin America, Inc.—a 501 (c)(3) Community Based Organization, located in Union City, —received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the Holiday Party held by the Hudson County Latin American Chamber of Commerce - hclacc in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey.

The award was given to Torres “in appreciation and recognition to an outstanding leader for his exceptional contributions and long-term commitment,” highlighted the . Mr. Torres oversaw for more than 26 years the operations of the Save Latin America’s three main components:

• A Community Resource Center, operating nine programs and providing thirty five day-to-day community services.
• A motivational program entitled Reaching Our Dreams (ROD).
• A Family Health Festival Series Program consisting of a series of one day health events in NY and NJ.

Johnny Torres also created the Institute for Human Development in New Jersey, giving motivational conferences and seminars. Subjects covered include: stress management, human relations, self improvement, self realization, small businesses and family relations.
