Venice started charging a €5 fee for people just visiting for the day. This was tested over 29 days and made the city €2.4 million. Most people who paid the fee were from Italy, with some also from the US, Germany, and France. Venice says this plan worked well, and they are thinking about making the fee €10 instead of €5 in the future.

⬇️ If you want an authentic Italian dining experience, beware of these common restaurant red flags:

🍝 Tourist Menus: Restaurants with menus in multiple languages and pictures of the dishes are often catering to tourists and might not serve the best quality food.

🍕 Empty Dining Rooms: A good sign of a great restaurant is a full dining room, especially with locals. If it’s empty, it’s probably not worth your time or money.

🍷 Calling You In: If someone is standing outside the restaurant trying to lure you in, it’s a major red flag. Authentic Italian restaurants don’t need to beg for customers.

🗺️ Close to Big Tourist Attractions: Most of the time, restaurants near major tourist sites are tourist traps. Venture a bit further to find better quality food.

🕛 Open All Day: Authentic restaurants typically open for lunch from 12pm to 3pm and then close until dinner at 7:30pm or 8pm. If it’s open all day long, it’s suspicious.

🍰 No Seasonal Dishes: Authentic Italian cuisine is highly seasonal. If the menu doesn’t change with the seasons or offers too many out-of-season dishes, it’s a red flag.

🚩 Have you ever fallen for any of these red flags?

Villa Rufolo ⤵️

1️⃣Immersed in the majestic landscapes of the Amalfi Coast, Villa Rufolo is a real historical gem that enchants visitors with its timeless beauty.

2️⃣It captivates you from the first glance: the entrance to the Villa is through a 14th-century tower which, with its intersecting arches and four statues symbolizing the seasons, seems like a secret passage to another dimension.

3️⃣It houses the Tower-Museum, the Knights' Hall, and the famous and wonderful Moorish Cloister.

4️⃣Visiting the Tower-Museum, you will feel immersed in an evocative atmosphere among statues, music, and sounds echoing elegantly thanks to the harmonica effect created by the glass staircase. Do not be intimidated by its 100 steps: the effort will surely be rewarded once you reach the top!

5️⃣The garden of Villa Rufolo is a real earthly paradise, perched above the sea. Here, the Ravello Music Festival takes place.

6️⃣Even Wagner was not indifferent to the wonderful garden: after visiting the villa and its garden, he claimed to have found the magical enchanted garden of Klingsor, referring to his opera Parsifal.

Translate:
The Valley of the Temples is an archaeological park in Sicily characterized by the exceptional state of preservation and a series of important Doric temples from the Hellenistic period. It corresponds to the ancient Akragas, the monumental original nucleus of the city of Agrigento. Since 2000, it has been a regional archaeological park.
Since 1997, the entire area has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is considered a coveted tourist destination, as well as being the symbol of the city and one of the main attractions of the entire island. The archaeological and landscape park of the Valley of the Temples, with its 1300 hectares, is one of the largest archaeological sites in the Mediterranean.
Most of the excavations and restoration of the temples are attributed to the work of the archaeologist Domenico Antonio Lo Faso Pietrasanta (1783-1863), Duke of Serradifalco from 1809 to 1812. During the 20th century, the excavations and restorations were mainly funded by Sir Alexander Hardcastle. He allowed archaeological excavations within the park, including the straightening of the eight columns on the south side of the Temple of Hercules. For his contributions to archaeology, he was appointed an honorary citizen of the city of Agrigento, with the award of the title of Commander of the Order of the Crown of Italy.

Chiesa di Sant ‘lgnazio di Loyola

The Chiesa di Sant’Ignazio di Loyola is a Baroque church in Rome, dedicated to St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit order. It was designed by the Jesuit architect Orazio Grassi and completed in 1650. The church is renowned for its elaborate interior, especially the ceiling fresco by Andrea Pozzo, which creates a dramatic illusion of an open sky and a dome that doesn’t actually exist. This masterpiece of trompe-l’œil (trick of the eye) technique gives the illusion of a much larger and more spacious interior. The church’s lavish decoration and impressive artwork reflect the Jesuit emphasis on inspiring awe and reverence.
