It pains us to announce that the Mongol Rally 2020 has officially been canceled 😭
Fear not! We both have ambitions to tackle the world as things settle down, and the Mongol Rally is still on the list, be it 2021 or beyond!
Thank you everyone for your support thus far, and we hope you continue following this page as we discover new adventures to be had.

Charity Spotlight: Lewy Body Dementia Association
This is Zach’s charity of choice. “Lewy Body dementia is not often discussed but has had a major impact on my life, as well as my family's lives, when it took my grandfather from us. However, the worst part about this disease is that it slowly and gradually took him from us while there was little we could do about it. Watching someone deteriorate with this disease is something no one should have to experience, so I choose to dedicate our trip to my grandfather and donate a portion of what we fundraise to raise awareness and find a cure for Lewy Body.”
Mission: The Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the Lewy body dementias (LBD), supporting people with LBD, their families and caregivers and promoting scientific advances. The Association's purposes are charitable, educational, and scientific.

Charity Spotlight: In A Heartbeat Foundation
This is Shane's charity of choice. "As an athletic trainer, locating an AED is one of the first things I do when I arrive at a new venue. You just never know when the worst scenario may occur. And I'm disappointed to know that many public venues and spaces still don't have AEDs available, whether it's due to finances or lack of awareness. Some days I wonder if things may have been different if there was an AED available at a campground when my father passed away."
Mission: to raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, donate and provide qualified organizations with Automated External Defibrillators and assist with the creation of action plans for emergency situations; and support, fund and advance the research of HCM.

Charity Spotlight: Cool Earth 😎🌎
Cool Earth is a charity that works with indigenous villages to halt deforestation and climate change. 🙅♂️🔥
Local people stand to lose the most from deforestation but the most to gain from its protection, that's why they are the forest's best possible custodians. All Cool Earth partnerships are community-owned and led. 👨👩👧👦🌳
By developing local livelihoods, their mission is to end the cycle of deforestation entrenching villages into further poverty. Creating strong, self-determining communities. 💪
They are also the only charity that works solely where the threat to the forest is greatest, on the frontline of deforestation. They work strategically, each of their partnerships form a shield to make the neighboring forest inaccessible to loggers - savings millions of acres from further deforestation. 🌳🌲🌴

Shane is a third year grad student finishing up his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Quinnipiac University. 👨🏽🎓🤸🏼♂️ Originally from Bellingham, MA, Shane enjoys traveling, soccer, new experiences, and adrenaline activities like sky diving. ✈️⚽🎢 Shane has already traveled to 22 countries! 😱 He is looking forward to meeting locals in their home villages while on the Mongol Rally! 🏘️👨👩👧👦

HELLO WORLD! 🌎🌍🌏 We're team Not Your Mama's Road Trip and we'll be participating in Mongol Rally 2020 this July!!! 🎉🥳 Our team is made up of Zach and Shane, with a potential 3rd teammate in the works🧐🤫, but more on that later.
What is this Mongol Rally we speak of, you ask?? 🤔Great question! It's an epic 10,000+ mile road trip from England to Ulan Ude, Russia (used to be to Mongolia, hence MONGOL Rally) that raises money for worthwhile charities!!!😱 Check out the video below to get a feeling of how psyched (or psycho) we are!🤪
We'll be fundraising for 3 incredible charities in the lead up to this trip, as well as during this awesome adventure!! The charities are Cool Earth, In A Heartbeat Foundation, and Lewy Body Dementia Association!! We'll be sure to give more information about each of these charities in future posts, so keep a look out!😎
