Swim with 8 black tip baby sharks was quite an experience.
They were not scared to swim between us and looking for food.
The water was really shallow only up to knee high so thank goodness mama shark couldn’t come join 😅

Guides to Guam hikes and tracks

These two books are highly recommend by many of my Guam friends

Detailed descriptions of each trials with pictures made it very easy to read

The woods here is like every other tropical islands, it’s thick it’s heavy and it looks the same everywhere!!! Very easy to get lost if you don’t pay attention to some turns.

I often ask why the experienced hikers don’t mark the trails like stateside do. With color paints or with pink ropes tight on tree branches?

And I often got the same answer: Typhoons or Hurricanes blow those branches everywhere every season. Trees grow so fast that those marks often get covered fast.

Okay.........

I guess I will just follow what book says 🙂

Talofofo bay/beach 。A great surf spot on Guam

Located on the island’s southwest and If you want to surf in a safe spot on Guam, this is a great place to be.
We drove by many times and often see many surfers out there surfing. The bay is noticeable for being one of the most accessible black sand beaches of Guam.

The beach is black volcanic sand, not mud. I will have to dig in and explain more to you next time.

The sand gets quite hot on a sunny day so find a palm tree to sit under, or go to that cute wood covers like the picture below is a good option.

Although it can get crowded if swell is really good.
It’s still not as good as many of the great surf spots on Hawaii, but this is as good as it can get.
The best time of year for surfing at Talofofo bay is in August when more clean surfable waves are found in that month.

Couple of times we went there we didn’t get any of good waves so there were no cool surfing pictures to show you guys.

But we did managed to visit Hawaii this summer and have tried surfing classes down at south side of Oahu and we love it!!!

到是J姊今年有機會在夏威夷南海岸體驗衝浪
她小女子還不是蓋的耶
第一次教練有幫忙抓了浪就直接站起來了
媽媽我在岸上看到比她還要興奮不已🥰
之後就迷上了
然後一連去了5堂課
留著J媽J哥J妹在岸邊苦等
好在教練超佛心
從第二堂課後就在每堂課結束後免費載J哥衝浪好幾回

我想 J媽知道要是下次有機會再去夏威夷，要安排什麼活動給5J 了。

今天的關島...
也默默的累積到第一百個因疫情而死亡的案例

每天的疫情上上下下
大家也似乎開始疲乏
原本打算想要在明年初開放觀光的政策...
可能又會延期了

再過一週就是感恩節，
之後就是小孩子最愛的聖誕節
今年完全提不起勁過這些節日啊⋯⋯

裡面有你潛水時從頭到腳需要的裝備
潛水直接用走的下去就好
所以這裡也是很多想體驗潛水朋友們練習的好地點

浮潛 自由式深潛 更不用提了

還可以去滑SUP
也可以去滑獨木舟

重點是有涼亭 還有水可以沖洗

還有，還有，夕陽 雲層 也是嘆為觀止的美

這裡，怎能不讓我們一去再去呢！

深潛只有J爸媽有去潛過喔！

Picking dragonfruits @ Happy Farm Dededo
We do have fruit farms and vegetables farms on Guam, but mostly run by Chinese not local Chamorro.

I bet you’ve eaten dragonfruit before but have you seen how it’s growing on tree?

We went to a local dragon fruit farm call Happy Farm earlier last month and experienced how to pick dragonfruits.
However it turned out that you can’t use bare hands to pick them, they have spikes.
It’s not a kids friendly pick your own experience
😥 Sorry kiddos.

Dragon fruits comes in white meat and purple red meat inside.
You can distinguish it by looking outside shapes.
If it’s oval shape and the green spikes are longer, it’s white meat.
If it’s round shape and the green spikes are shorter, it’s purple red meat.

Farmers also raise bees to help with passing pollens. We didn’t get to see the bees 🐝 I guess they were off that day.

We got to try to fresh dragonfruits on site. It was so juicy and the vibrant color was so pleased to the eye. Kids loved it. 😋 can’t you tell 😜

I don’t remember the pricing at the stateside, honestly I don’t remember even seeing it at the grocery stores. It is selling at $3/Ib, fair enough I assumed 🤷‍♀️😂 island price😅

關島也有果農和菜農，但多辦都是中國裔，島國村民似乎不太搞大批菜園果園的。

你有吃過火龍果，但是你有看過火龍果樹嗎？
前陣子還是火龍果季節的時候我們去了一個當地的火龍果農場，體驗一下摘火龍果的感覺。但是它有刺，不太適合小小孩去碰。所以J姊弟妹們就只是撿地上的玩玩而已⋯⋯

果子有分白肉和紫色的肉，果農也教了我們光看外表怎麼分別裡面肉的顏色。

小朋友還現場吃了一堆 果農阿姨人真好啊！

Adopting Winter - part 1 of 2

We saw 4 puppies on the side of the road on our way to school one day
I was just explaining to kids what Boonies means of course soon saw the perfect example

For some reasons I told myself if those puppies were still there on my way back
I’d definitely rescue them
And they were!!!
I went ahead ask neighbors to see if they belong to anyone and guess what, no.

She said there were more puppies but few already been hit by cars
I was like.... I am definitely taking them home even though I didn’t know what I would do with them

This neighbor kept one and had me took other 3
So I quickly found a bin in the back of my trusty truck

That’s it, I took them home!
Can’t wait to tell my gang

某天早上開車載著小孩子們去上課的途中
看見了4隻活蹦亂跳的小狗在路邊
才在跟他們解釋流浪狗是什麼
就馬上看見了一堆
心裏想著
等一下送完小孩回家的路上要是小狗還在的話
我就要去把它們帶回家然後看看怎麼處理🤷‍♀️
在路邊的小狗 多半是兇多吉少
因為馬路如虎口 車子不長眼啊

結果 回家路上 真的還在耶
我去問了附近鄰居 是不是有人養的
鄰居說沒有
而且本來更多隻的
已經有幾隻被車撞死了😱
我聽了更深信 一定要拯救它們
（這是剛到島上的勇氣）

鄰居說沒有人要這些小狗，希望我能帶走
她自己留了一隻
我想 車上沒有籠子啊
那我是要怎麼帶它們回家啊！
好險有個裝雜物的大塑膠盒
3隻小狗擠一擠剛好
就這樣
把它們帶回家了
真想趕快跟孩子們說... 待續...

在關島，有著非常非常非常嚴重的流浪狗貓的問題。你們知道嗎？島上估計大概有上萬隻流浪狗貓在街頭流浪著。
通常來關島玩的朋友應該感覺不到這個問題的存在。一但住下來了很快就會發現，因為他們無所不在，在你家巷口，路邊，公園，商店邊都看得到。整個關島只有一間流浪動物之家，裡面只能容納兩百隻流浪動物。這...怎麼夠！關島有好多愛動物人士們在散播愛心。但是沒有政府單位政策支持，一般民間團體或個人的能力都有限。
當你看見倒在馬路中間模糊血肉中的殘骸⋯⋯ 我只能心裡默念阿密陀佛願它早超生。但是road kill 的速度加上領養還是趕不上它們自生繁殖的能力啊。（待續）

Guam has a huge stray dog population problem. These strays, aka boonies, can be found on every corner and parking lot due to lack of proper animal control. The roughly estimated number of stray and unwanted cats and dogs on island at between 25,000 and 40,000 - and growing. You may not notice about it if you were just traveling here for vacation. The island has one and only animal shelter, Guam Animals in Need, or GAIN, normally received over thousands of stray, unwanted animals. Of those animals about 500 were adopted out and rest were euthanized. Also you see road kill once or twice a week is a normal scene on the island. However, adoption rate plus road kill are far from it’s own reproduce rate. （to be continued)

Throw back:
It took us about 90 days to receive our home goods then it took us about a month to put our house back together. Moving thousands of miles away was not a joke but we were excited about this island adventures ahead of us. We decided to ship our truck here because we heard the road conditions was not ideal on Guam. Most likely I won’t freak out if truck gets dirt or sand all over. Plus, truck is easy to haul stuff. Trunk for Guam it is 🙂
我們等了90多天的家具終於到了 又花了一個月的時間把家裡整頓好 搬家千里 實在不是開玩笑的啊！但是又超興奮期待島上生活 聽說島上路況不是很好 坑坑窪窪的 我們最終決定帶卡車來關島 上山下海都不怕 還有日後若要載大型海上玩具的時候也好載 是不是有考慮周詳啊！

Haha Adai!
It means hi or hello in Guam (It is pronounced as Half A Day). "Hafa Adai!" is used the same way as the word "Aloha" in the Hawaiian Islands.

Welcome to Fun with 5J on Guam 🙂 We moved here last year from the stateside. Don’t give me wrong even though Guam is US territory but there are still many new things to get used to as a new family on the block. We love outdoor activities, hang out at beaches and seeking adventures. Seems like Guam is a perfect fit for us. Follow along our journey on Guam and you might learn couple of new things about this island. Let’s discover most spectacular sights or secret spots where locals goes together. We hope this page is a great resources for you when you come visit. Hopefully you get to experience this beautiful island in the near future.

Guam is on the Lockdown the 2nd time plus Stay at home order the 4th consecutive week currently. We can not go out explore like we used to. But it’s ok, we have been out and about the past year. Now is the perfect time to do some throw backs.
