Good Morning from London!!

Yes, back in good old Blighty for a few days and the graduation of the youngest family member!! It’s a wonderful yet poignant moment. All that parenting finally reaches fruition, now it’s fully fingers crossed that life goes well for the WoW brood.

So with the flurry of newbies and requests over the spring months, it seemed the right moment to kind of reiterate and explain exactly what WoW is, how it started and what it involves and includes.

I bet it never really dawned on you that the acronym WOW stands for Women Only Weeks, as well as being a superlative that describes both the organisation and content of our quiver of Solo traveller ITALIAN holidays.

You might be wondering why we offer Women Only holidays. Are we men haters? No, of course not!! But as a predominantly female led company,, we had a growing realisation that there are many, many ladies out there who are solo travellers, either by choice or circumstance, curious and courageous ladies looking for a decent holiday based around an activity or within a context they would love to know more about.

You might also be wondering why we’ve chosen to run WOW holidays in Italy, rather than anywhere else. The answer is simple. We actually live here, and after 20 years of absolute full immersion, our knowledge of this unique and idiosyncratic country, from coffee to carabinieri, from piazze to pasta, from style to skiing, surpasses most other travel companies by miles!

Are you ready for summer, with something hopeful and beautiful on the horizon, rather than the already desperate mud slinging of UK election madness, or tales of War and Woe from across the globe?

At WoWSunTours we offer the ultimate Italian pick-me-up , the literal meaning of Tira-mi-su, quite apart from the delicious pud, and fortunately for you we still have availability on our September weeks, running from the 7th to the 14th of September and the 14th to the 21st of September.

With your dedicated WhatsApp group to put you in touch with your fellow travel companions before you arrive, as well as any last minute queries or doubts, you arrive already knowing something about who you are sharing your week with.

We meet you and take you by private transfer to your delightful agriturismo accommodation, where you have your OWN apartment with pool and beautiful gardens. The Fig tree bearing fruit is yours to help yourself!!

We’ll then weave you your own Italian story, one of walks and sunsets, of relaxed cooking classes with locally sourced ingredients, of aperitivi and piazze, of lakes and lunches, of fat woozy afternoons by the pool or in the outside spa pools in the forest. We show you an Under The Tuscan Sun odyssey round the beautiful Valdichiana, with the medieval hill top town of Cortona at it’s heart.

We’ll regale you with our WoW banter, with some Italian thrown in for good measure, and our tales of what it means to Live like a Local, what really makes Italians tick. I guarantee we’ll have you giggling with mirth in a jiffy.

And you might, just might, make that connection with one of your fellow solo travellers that is the spark of a friendship for life. We’ve seen so often, from your texts and photos, the close bonds that have sprung up between our lovely ladies, having met originally as strangers on WoW weeks. It’s both heartwarming and humbling. And actually pretty godamn WoW!!

WoWSunTours - Putting the WoW in Summer ☀️🥂

It’s a SMILEY DAY TODAY, a great aunt of mine used to beam of a morning, every morning in fact, whenever she came to stay✨️

There’s potentially nothing more irritating than a cheery person happily singing along with the radio and preparing a hearty breakfast - would you like some porridge, fresh orange juice, an omelette? - when all you want is to brood grumpily over the days’ proceedings and down a decent coffee or 96. I am not, by and large, a morning person.

It has been then a source of great surprise to me that these days, I seem to wake up earlyish and not in a bad mood. I might have a stretch or two, and a snooze to boot, but once I’m up, I’m up, busying about feeding cats and opening curtains and windows with a flourish.

The inclement and unpredictable rains of April have stopped. There have been a few bad hail storms, and there’s still an evening chill that merits a fire, but Summer is all Around, as Bill Night might have sung, if Love Actually had taken place in the Bella Stagione.

Anybody and everybody, it seems, even those with little knowledge or experience, seem to be offering holiday tours these days. Flocks of tourists, led by the inevitable umbrella touting guide, can be seen trooping in large groups round historical sites, heads filling with useless dates, and joyless anecdotes.

WoWSunTours Women Only Weeks aim to give our Solo Lady Travellers something very different; a true Italian Adventure with a distinct female twist, a holiday that pulls at the heart, that sings of and celebrates real Tuscan Summer life; no tick box tourism, no lists of overcrowded sights, but rather an immersion experience of the local Dolce Vita.

Based in Cortona, home of Frances Mayes’ best seller novel Under The Tuscan Sun, our weeks are packed with taster ‘multi activities’, organised as differing itineraries on a daily basis.
