Shrine, an intimate solo dance piece, is a physical and aural exploration of the human body, breath and spirit – a powerful reclamation of the body as a tool for independence, purpose, and personal liberation. Devised and scored by Forest Swords, and performed at the historic Black-E in the heart of Liverpool's Chinatown, Shrine is a euphoric, occasionally uncomfortable search into ourselves and our inner workings.
Music / art direction by Forest Swords. Choreography by Carmel Koster. Production / lighting design by Venya @ The Kazimier. Dance by Owen Ridley-Demonick. Additional consultation by Shaun Curtis, Jon Hall.
Commissioned by Metal and presented as part of the Liverpool Provocations, a series of artistic responses to the consumer and commercial behaviours of the winter period.
