Double red flags continue to fly across Panama City Beach today (June 24). The Gulf of Mexico is closed to swimming due to hazardous surf conditions and rip currents. Violators are subject to a civil citation and/or fine.

Guests please pay attention to our beach flag system. The gulf waters are beautiful, but they can be dangerous.

Parents,

We have had numerous incidents where parents have allowed their children into the water on double red flag days. Several of these incidents that were witnessed by deputies are under investigation for child neglect. Tragically, two fathers lost their life on Fathers Day when they had to go into the water to rescue their children. Please keep your children safe and out of the water on double red flag days and keep a close eye on them on other days when swimming is allowed. Life jackets are a great safety tool when allowing your kids in the water. There are plenty of fun and safe things to do on the sand. Have fun but please be safe.

Hello friends .. remember to leave the beach flat, don’t leave holes you dug - fill them in . Don’t leave trash and other debris . - Turtle nesting season is super cool!

Loggerhead nesting continues on PCB, having reached 22 nests so far! We have had one Green false crawl (she returned to the water without nesting) so we are still awaiting our first green nest (fingers crossed we get a couple this year).

Considering our first 2022 nests were laid late May, we're patiently waiting for late July when our hatchling season should begin.

We appreciate your help to keep our beaches clean, dark and flat. If you see a nesting turtle on Panama City Beach, please immediately call the Beach Police at 850-233-5000. They will forward your report to Turtle Watch volunteers who will respond to mark the nest. Don’t shine lights on the turtle or take flash photos, and stay at least 30 feet away and not in her line of sight.
