The Clear Creek Trail in Downtown Golden is increasingly popular, especially with the P2P Trail from Idaho Springs to Denver. This surge brings challenges in accommodating diverse users. An alternatives analysis will determine the best secondary route through Downtown Golden.

Recently, many residents have reported receiving a text message “survey” purporting to “make our community a better place.”
This summer various groups may approach you to get signatures for ballot measures placed in Golden.
This is NOT from the City of Golden! The group hides their identity... so bring a skeptical eye when you are approached in person or via text this summer to force Golden citizens to pay for election initiatives we don't want!

Phew, what a storm! Streets and Parks & Rec crews are the best. A resident’s letter says it best:
“Kudos to all of the men and women who take care of our streets, trails, and walks!
We had no difficulty getting to the Golden Community Center this morning, and seeing all of the activity of the plows and shovelers along the way. The mounds of snow were impressive! So happy to live in Golden. The Snow Removal Plans work
well....streets are plowed in an orderly manner, with main streets, ie the through streets, first....and then moving into the feeder streets of the neighborhoods! Perseverance and patience might be helpful though with this much snow!”

Noise, Noise, NOISE! Remember this weird image I posted a few months ago?
Golden held a meeting on NOISE! and wow did people show up to share how noise negatively impacts our quality of life.
I’m glad to see City of Golden, Colorado - Municipal Government is following up! We are re-committing to efforts to reduce the harmful impacts of noise in our community.

Purpose of Agenda Item: To discuss and receive input on priorities for engineering solutions that may improve highway noise impacts to Golden residents living near Hwy 93, Hwy 58 and US 6.
Engineering is only part of the equation, of course, but it’s a biggie we’ve ignored far too long.

Last week’s storm dropped *way* more snow than expected in up to 10 1/2”-12” across the city.
Here’s what happens when Golden’s Parks team goes into action during a winter snowstorm:
Parks staff shoveled 392 steps and plowed 17 first-priority parking lots, alleys, and driveways. They cleared 16 second-priority parking lots and 25 miles of regional trails. They operated one truck, one large tractor, three small tractors, two walk-behind snow throwers, and a lot of shovels. By early Sunday, the entire system had been cleared.
And the Streets Crews? Went to 12-hour shifts starting at 8:00 p.m. Friday, working around the clock until 8:00 p.m. Saturday night. Whoa!

Rick Gardner, local historian, wrote this to Council recently: "I annually create my family's own 4th of July display (at the Quaintance Block at 805 13th Street) which has both daytime and nighttime elements, from the patriotic items displayed in the windows (including the artistic bald eagle decanters made by Foss) to the 4th of July lights hung from the cornice."
"Golden's had a number of different ways and expressions of celebrating the 4th so I couldn't reliably say anything is "the" way Golden has celebrated it, other than its being quite patriotic with a heartfelt love for this country. I'd absolutely believe it should continue to be celebrated with that patriotism and love; beyond that our history offers potential for ideas for the here and now."

Great news! Students and families walking to Shelton Elementary now have a safer, wider sidewalk on 4th Avenue from the Heritage Road overpass to Kinney Run Trail. The 2023 Pedestrian and Bike Plan prioritized these types of sidewalk improvements to help students arrive to school energized and ready to learn.
