🚨!!BREAKING Disney News!! 🚨
All day park hopping is returning to Walt Disney World in early January 2024! For the past several years park hopping has only been available after 2 p.m., but once all-day park hopping returns, you can park hop any time of day. That means if you want to catch the 7 a.m. virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy in Epcot, then be in Magic Kingdom for the 1 p.m. drop for the virtual queue for Tron, it’s now doable 😉.

Also don’t forget that January brings the return of the long awaited Dining plan as part of a package for resort guests!

This is why I do this. Disney World has been an escape for me to get away from my anxiety for a long time now and I enjoy sharing that with other people. A ranking of the food we ate at Disney World on our trip this past week! ~ Baby’s First Birthday Edition~

Day 1: We had breakfast at Primo Piatto at the Riviera, I had the turkey bagel sandwich and my husband had the Croque Madame breakfast. The turkey bagel was good, I wasn’t blown away but I would get it again. The Croque Madame was above average and would get again, although a little basic for offerings. Overall above average breakfast for a quick service.

We had a late lunch at Magic Kingdom and ate at *gasp* Cosmic Ray’s! 😨 We decided to give it another go and each got a burger. It was basic theme park food but palatable. Would probably not get again when there are better offering nearby.

For a late dinner we had Centertown Market quick service at Caribbean Beach. The Arroz Mamposteao was a delicious rice and carnitas dish that is very good for a quick service.

Breakfast on Day 2 was brunch at Sci-fi Dine in Theater. We had the fried dill pickles for an appetizer with the assortment of dipping sauces and they were really good! I had the American Classic Burger and my husband got the Drive in BBQ burger and both were above average for burgers with good fries!

We also had the pineapple coconut slushy located near Pixar Place; it was a very refreshing treat on a hot day

For an afternoon snack we had the Pumpkin-Hazelnut-Chocolate swirl Cheesecake and this is the BEST thing we had the entire trip! It was delicious and I would get this every time we go if it were available.

For dinner we had Garden Grill and it was the second best meal we have ever had on property. We had a blast meeting the characters and the food is family style so come hungry!

Our 3rd day we had breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace! This is a breakfast I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. Our little one loved the meet and greets. The pastries were delicious and we had the eggs any way breakfast. I will say that breakfast was just average for me and was about on par with other breakfasts on property which was disappointing, but again, the pastries were delicious!

We then went to Epcot for food and wine festival; here is a rapid fire run down!

Beignet aux trios fromages: the warm cheese beignet in France: By far the worst thing we tried on the entire trip. 1/5 Mickeys. Stay away.

Croque Glacé: a warm ice cream sandwich (not food and wine offering) from Les Hall. Good and a bit unexpected! 3/5 Mickeys

Lemon ricotta cheesecake in Italy: slightly tart, cool, and refreshing! 3.5/5 Mickeys

Chicken Tikka Masala from India: this was a “sleeper”! It was an unexpected gem. Well seasoned and a little spicy, and a surprisingly large portion. 3.75/5 Mickeys.

Java Horchata: a pleasant surprise with yummy horchata: 3/5

Braised Beef Poutine in Canada: a surprising 3.5/5! I’m not a huge fan of the regular poutine so I was a bit hesitant to try this but was very pleasantly surprised! It has pickle and mushrooms on the top to cut the saltiness of the cheese and fries.

Throughout the whole trip we frequented La Petit Cafe in the Riviera and highly recommend it for coffee! 4/5 Mickeys

A year ago today, my husband drove us 2 and a half hours out of the way to Disney so I could satisfy my 30 week pregnancy craving of Mickey beignets and so I could watch Festival of Fantasy. It was hot but so worth it!

We had an amazing stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge! I do plan on starting a review series about the Disney Resorts but for know I have a summary of my thoughts about this unique resort.

I rate the resorts in 5 categories on a scale of 1-5. The categories are theming/decor, dining, amenities, transportation, and overall. Please remember that all of these are subjective from my personal experience and that it could be different for everyone based on your priorities and what you are looking for in a resort.

Theming and Decor: 5/5🌟! The theming at this resort is so immersive and detailed, from the moment you drive up, it genuinely feels like you have left Florida for a safari. Every detail down to the backsplash in the kitchenette was thought out.

Dining: Another 5/5🌟! With 3 table service restaurants, 2 quick service restaurants, and multiple lounges, you cannot run out of options here. Boma, Sanaa, and Jiko are top tier restaurants with adventurous food plus safe options for the pickier eaters in the group.

Amenities: 4/5🌟 boasting 2 large swimming pools, hot tubs, 2 fitness centers, Savannah viewing patios, shops, and a clubhouse for the little ones, this resorts has no shortage of amenities. They often have campfires with s’mores in the evening and arts and crafts during the day at the clubhouse.

Transportation: 2.5/5🌟 where this resort falls a little short for me is in the transportation category. Most deluxe resorts have a couple of different transportation options, however Animal Kingdom Lodge only offers bus transportation to the park. That coupled with the fact that is it quite out of the way and is one of the least walkable resorts means it looses a couple of starts in this category. However it does have a redeeming quality in the fact that the buses here come fairly frequently compared to other resorts.

Overall: 4/5🌟 overall, I really enjoyed my time here and definitely plan to stay again! We were in a deluxe studio villa in Jambo house with a Savannah view. The ambiance, theming, dining options, and proximity to animal kingdom were a huge draw for us, and the fact that we could see giraffes from our balcony was the icing on the cake. Animal Kingdom lodge is a Deluxe Resort but is usually priced closer to a moderate resort making it a more affordable way to take advantage of things like extended evening hours in the park for Deluxe resort guests.

WOAHHHHHH BUDDYYYYY!

Disney just casually dropped some MAJOR news with no warning but I’m not mad about it! Buckle your seat belts cause here we go!

1st off the thing everyone was waiting for: The return of the dining plan! There will be a Quick Service Dining Plan and a Standard Dining plan available for 2024 trips!

2nd, no more park reservations for date based tickets starting January 9th, 2024.

3rd, annual passholders and cast members will have “good to go” days that will not require a park pass reservation starting in 2024.

4th, early park entry for all Disney resort guests and extended evening hours for deluxe resort guests will continue throughout next year!

And last but not least!: Simplifying Genie + and lightning lane selections! No details have been released yet but they did announce that they will be rolling out advanced planning and ways to spend less of your park day navigating Genie + next year!
