Hey friends! Back from in Punta Cana - excited to be working through my inbox but have had a few slowdowns with re-arranging trips due to the incoming hurricane in Jamaica & Cancun area. So excited to be back though and share all that I have learned!

Two things though:
1) always get travel insurance - it’s super rare to need it, but when you need it because of a monster of a storm like this one, it’s really important.
2) it really does pay off to work with a travel agent! I’ve been monitoring this storm for my clients, moving flights as needed, re-routing as needed. Some clients will enjoy a storm-free honeymoon because we were able to get them in a new resort with the storm warnings! (plus we get our peeps extra perks)

The beautiful coast of Italy - I recommend to find off the beaten path places if you are visiting in the summer months (June, July, August). It is hot and can be crowded - so the shoulder season is a wonderful time to go. Italy is actually one of the more affordable countries to visit in Europe and there is so much to see!

When you cross the border into Switzerland, prices go up about 3X what they cost just across the border of Italy!

Don’t forget to check your passports if you are traveling with me this summer! No one wants to be stressed about getting their passport back!

Heading overseas this summer? Think of what you can buy with the $60 of expedited passport processing fees you saved by planning ahead! Passport processing times are currently 6-8 weeks for routine service and 2-3 weeks for expedited service. travel.state.gov/passport

Finally landed back in Georgia after a long 48 hours of travel!

TRAVEL TIP TUESDAY!

What's my #1 tip for finding a great deal on travel? Look at FLIGHTS FIRST. Why? Flights are often one of your biggest expenses when traveling to a destination. Your hotel will be a large part of this, yes, but I want my clients to spend a larger portion of thier budget on the best resort/hotel, and less on the cost of thier flights.

A flight to Cancun could be $600 one weekend, and $150-200 the next weekend. If you can, keep your dates and destinations flexible. If you were planning to visit London next year, but a flight to Paris or Italy comes up at half the cost, split your time! Plan your trip around when the flights are the best prices- this will allow you a bigger budget when choosing your resort, hotel, restaurants, excursions and more.

Last tip - trust your travel advisor and know your budget! I know that there are blogs, posts and all kinds of information out there telling you what's best - but it isn't always accurate. If we haven't personally visited a place, we have coworkers that have. We know the deets. Trust us!!
