A special happy Mother's Day to my wonderful Mom who can make a vacation wherever she is - whether its the Flint Hills of Kansas or the Fjords of Norway she always finds the cutest shops, most interesting landmarks, and great restaurants. It has been a while since I've relaxed at an all inclusive an I am so excited to bring you a few property tours in the next few months! When you look for an all inclusive do you do adults only or family friendly? Let me know in the comments what are the amenities that help you choose an all inclusive property? Have you guys seen the news? Icelandic officials earlier this month declared a state of emergency near the Mount Fagradalsfjall volcano in anticipation of eruption. Attractions like the the Blue Lagoon Thermal Spa are currently closed and will remain close until at least November 30th due to earthquakes. Did you know that Iceland has about 130 volcanic mountains? Iceland is often referred to “The Land of Fire and Ice.” Those 130 volcanos are what give the fire term to its moniker. Today, there are about 30 of them that are still active!

When Steve and I did a Rhine River cruise a few years ago we went in the summer but I knew right away we would definitely be coming back for the German Christmas Markets. Each town that we visited had it's own personality and being on the river really took the stress out of packing and repacking our luggage to see a variety of locations. Instead of worrying about details like hotel confirmations or transportation tickets in each town, we were able to truly enjoy our vacation.

If you’re heading to the Christmas Markets in Europe, I suggest you go hungry! Each town and village put their own spin on it with local delicacies. The food options are many, varied, and absolutely delicious!

Did you know not all cruise ships are large? A lot of times when people think of cruising they automatically think of the huge floating resorts and this style boat is perfect for multi-generational trips. Activities like go carts, water slides and even ice skating rinks there is something onboard for everyone. Not only do these ships have tons of activities for every interest, they often have dining venues that reflect that same variety. Everything from sushi to steakhouses and Italian to Mexican cuisine can be found onboard.

These huge action packed (and people packed) ships are not your only option though!! Smaller ships may hold only 100 or so passengers and will be able to get into small ports, putting you right in the middle of the action. Often times these smaller boats choose to showcase a particular part of your trip like the culture, food, or history of where you are sailing.

So many of you know from my posts that I am preparing for a trip to Israel and Jordan later this month. Based on today's news... well, who knows what is going to happen. It is an unprecedented event and certainly never something that I've ever dealt with in my previous travels. For now my heart goes out to the Israeli and Palestinian families who have lost loved ones in this event and also to the many travel guides who live and work in this region. I will continue to hold that area of the world with its many citizens in my prayers.

One of my all time favorite fall break spots has got to be Universal Orlando!! Of course anyone that has been to Universal Orlando will have their favorite restaurant inside the park or right outside at City Walk. There’s The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar, Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen, Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food, Bigfire, VIVO Italian Kitchen, Margaritaville, NBC Sports Grill & Brew, Pat O’Briens, and much more. Personally my favorite is the Bob Marley Tribute to Freedom restaurant! The jerk chicken is a solid choice, but I have to say our menu favorite is the shrimp curry! Make sure to make your reservations in advance to get the best dining times available.

Lets talk ancient civilizations, ruins and history! Some of the best-preserved cliff dwellings in America can be found at Mesa Verde National Park. It's undeniable that there is a distinct vibe when you are hiking in the area. Walking along the same paths and scrambling up ladders that were the similar to the Ancestral Pueblo People of 1,400 years ago - hundreds of years before Europeans would reach North American shores. Mesa Verde National Park preserves a spectacular reminder of this ancient culture. Archeologists have called these people Anasazi, from a Navajo word sometimes translated as “the ancient ones” or “ancient enemies.” We now call them the Ancestral Pueblo people, reflecting their modern descendants.
