Mexico is so much more than Cancun!

One of my favorite parts of being a travel advisor is introducing my clients to new ways to explore and go beyond Cancun.

And yes .... Cancun is amazing. But if you’re looking for something different, here’s a few ideas:

Isla Mujeres
🌴 Postcard-perfect beaches without the crowds
Just a 20-minute ferry ride from Cancun, Isla Mujeres feels like a hidden gem. Think crystal-clear water at Playa Norte, vibrant local charm, and epic snorkeling with colorful marine life. It’s a quiet escape where time slows down, and yes, you can still sip margaritas by the beach.

Holbox
🏝️ This tiny island feels like a secret slice of paradise.
Holbox is where I send clients who want untouched beauty and a slower pace. No cars, just sandy streets, boutique hotels, and flamingos casually hanging out on the shore. Plus, the bioluminescent waters at night? Total bucket list material.

Playa del Carmen
☀️A little more action, but with a local twist.
Playa del Carmen is all about variety. Stroll Quinta Avenida for vibrant restaurants and shops, or head to quieter beaches just outside the main area. I always recommend a day trip to Cozumel for incredible snorkeling or diving, it’s just a ferry ride away.

🌸✈️ Planning a Spring Break trip doesn’t have to mean chaos!

My client Tanya just gave the go ahead on her family's Spring Break getaway to Riviera Maya, Mexico. They’ll be staying at a fantastic resort that is perfectly within their budget. The resort is also fun for the kids but not too loud and overcrowded.

When we first chatted, she stressed the importance of having fun things for the kids and equal parts relaxation for her husband and her.

A few more things on their wishlist:
✅ A swimmable beach with clear blue water
✅ All-inclusive with a variety of dining options (because kids can be picky!)
✅ A kids' club so they can sneak away for some adult time

A Quick Story About a Trip I Just Booked ⬇️

My client had already spent about 10 hours researching and searching the web for information on the Dominican Republic before coming to me.

See, the thing about the Dominican Republic is that I‘ve been there a few times. I’ve stayed at different resorts, tried the food, visited the beaches, cultural landmarks, and even raft-floated in the Atlantic Ocean (yes, it was just as amazing as it sounds!).

So, it’s a lot quicker and easier for me to narrow down the options because I’ve been there. I know which resorts fit which travel styles, which beaches have the softest sand, and which experiences are absolutely worth your time.

In the end, we narrowed down their resort choice to two options:

✅ Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana – A beachfront, family-friendly luxury resort with spacious suites, an amazing kids’ water park, and plenty of activities for all ages. Perfect for families looking to balance adventure with relaxation.

✅ Sanctuary Cap Cana – An adults-only, all-inclusive retreat featuring private plunge pool suites, top-tier dining, and a romantic, peaceful atmosphere. Ideal for couples looking for an intimate getaway.

Three Caribbean islands you’ll LOVE other than Jamaica 👇🏾✨

Jamaica gets a lot of love (and for good reason), but if you’ve been before and you’re ready to explore a little deeper to some of the smaller islands, here are three I’m currently planning trips to for clients:

🌿🏝️ Saint Lucia – Think lush rainforests, dramatic volcanic peaks 🌋, and the iconic Pitons. This island is made for couples who want romance ❤️ and adventure 🚀. You can hike Gros Piton for epic views, then cool off in a private plunge pool 🏊🏾‍♀️ with the ocean as your backdrop. It’s the perfect mix of thrill and chill.

🍫🏝️ Grenada – Sure, it’s called the Spice Isle 🌶️, but Grenada is full of surprises. The underwater sculpture park 🤿? A total must for snorkelers and divers. And if you’re a foodie, you’ll love visiting a local chocolate estate 🍫 or sipping rum straight from the source 🥃 at a distillery. This island has flavor in every sense of the word.

⛵🏝️ Barbados – Yes, the pink-sand beaches 🌸🏖️ are dreamy, but there’s so much more to love here. From luxury catamaran cruises ⛵ to secret coves 🌊 only the locals know, this island nails that blend of elegance and authenticity ✨. And let’s not forget, it gave us Rihanna 🎤👑. Enough said.

Every island in the Caribbean offers unique experiences, which, if you ask me, just means more excuses to book trips ✈️🌴.
