Do you know what it means when you find this in your garden?
It means you have a wild almond tree in your neighborhood and bats, that get them… then fly to your garden and eat the fruity outer part and eventually drop the seed.

🌿🐸 Had an amazing private tour with two curious explorers (ages 8 and 10)! and their parents. We found a baby tree frog 🐸, the stunning pink cup fungus 🍄, the incredible flower of the Yaxché tree 🌸🌳, and even a giant hermit crab 🦀. The kids had a blast, and we took tons of pictures 📸. The woods were absolutely magical! ✨🌴

It’s called a Walking Palm Tree because it does actually walk. When it chooses a location to go towards, it grows new roots in that direction and lets the trailing roots die back. This continues inch by inch, and it can travel up to twenty feet in a year.

🍄🌸 Cookeina tricholoma—also known as the “Pink Cup Fungus” or Bristly Tropical Cup—is a true gem of the jungle! 🌿 We spotted these tiny (just 4mm!) beauties on today’s tour, growing on decaying wood in the tropical forest. Their vibrant pink or orange “cups” are designed to catch raindrops 💧 and spread their spores.

Fun fact: They’re not just pretty! In parts of Asia, they’re used in traditional medicine and even cuisine. Truly nature’s tiny treasures! ✨🍂

Amazing!!

Less than 10% of our native wildflowers are blue, and one of the reasons for their rarity is the complexity of the chemistry needed to absorb all colors of visible light except blue. For example, many plants create their blue flowers using the similar recipe: six anthocyanin molecules, six copigment molecules, and two metal ions. Others use delphinidin, a molecule that differs from cyanidin in one small detail: It carries an extra oxygen atom in one place. Delphinidin is behind many of the world's best-known blues, such as gentian.
