Have you ever heard of Wayah Bald? If not, we aren’t surprised. One of the most beautiful and historic hikes in the Smokies crosses the Appalachian Trail near Franklin, NC. The gorgeous stone tower at the observation point was built in 1937 as a fire tower. You can still climb it today! While you are close, go visit Franklin as it recovers from Helene. Such a beautiful little town.

These small towns were not impacted much like other parts of WNC. They are open for business and rely on tourists. Come visit and enjoy the fall weather!

📣 Great news! Just in time for leaf season, the Nantahala National Forest in Jackson County, NC will reopen Friday, Oct. 11. This includes some of your most beloved havens near Cashiers, NC such as:
🍂 Silver Run Falls
🍂 Whitewater Falls
🍂 Whiteside Mountain
🍂 Panthertown Valley

In addition to these National Forest areas, 🍂 Pinnacle Park in Sylva is also open.

Cleanup crews are working daily so you may seek refuge in these outdoor spaces, but you may encounter downed trees, and some campsites will be closed.

While the scenery may look different than previous or future trips, we invite you to Visit Thoughtfully. Always remember to Leave No Trace® and be safe on the trail and near waterfalls.

**UPDATE: HCLT public access properties are now all open except for Brushy Face Preserve and the lower loop at Dixon Woods. The main trails at Dixon are open and Sunset Rock is now open!

Please join us this Saturday at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts for the Mountain High Music & Craft Festival!

Craft vendors from around the area will be on hand with their unique offerings. We are also having a Classic Car Cruise-In, there are no entry fees, just come on down and join in and show off your classic car!

There will be music all day long, as well as clogging demonstrations, food, and more. We hope you’ll come out and enjoy a beautiful fall day with family and friends and support our local crafters.

How fun would this be? Only about an hour away

Ski Sapphire has more snow on the slopes now than we have had in years! After a little wet weather Monday PM into Tuesday, winter weather returns for great snowmaking operations! See you on the Slopes!
