The excitement is REAL. We are beyond elated to put up our Carlisle Bay Map with the sea life display. We will have an official opening but I could not help but share this. We look forward to have our visitors enjoy and make use of it but most especially we look forward to being able to teach the kids about the bay, the wrecks and the sea life and create a love in them for this wonderful bay and see them learn to swim and explore all the the bay offers them.

I am happy to announce that from Monday 14th June 2021 we will be able to resume operations in the Barbados port for a select number of tours.
The Bajan Highlights & The Rum Run excursion along with the Turtle & Shipwreck Excursion and beach day have been approved for operation.
Glory Tours along with several other tour operators and taxis are happy to once again be able to provide our services to Cruise Ship guest and to do what we love best which is sharing our wonderful island with you.
We want to say a huge THANK YOU! To the Government of Barbados, The Management and team of the Barbados Port Inc, The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc and the Ministry of Health for assiduously working to ensure that the Barbados Cruise Industry reopen safely for everyone.
We are the first port of call for Celebrity Millennium which departs St Martin. The Barbados government has worked hard to ensure a safe reopening of the cruise industry by providing the industry parters with training and protocols under which we will operate. They have wisely granted us to operate only a few tours initially which will be monitored to ensure a safe and fabulous experience four our guest whilst maintaining a safe environment for Barbadians.
We are committed to getting this right. I know how much we all love cruises and the industry needs to restart for the ships who have been out if work for over a year, it’s crew and the countries that depend on them.
As I have said to my fellow industry partners; Covid has injured us all but just as someone who has injured their knee and have had to have knee surgery, we first have a period of physiotherapy so we can learn to walk again before we can run. We must be disciplined and committed whilst facing challenges but in doing so we will regain our strength and rise again. Our Barbados will shine bright because she is truly the Gem of the Caribbean and we will do our best to play our part. 🙏

Well I had all good intentions of adding a post to my blog every day. Unfortunately the last few weeks have been very busy. I have been working to get Tranquility ready to cruise again along with Glory Tours & Beautiful Barbados Island Tours ready to tour again 😊
Thankfully today I managed to find some time to share one of my favourite stories with you.
I know when you see Captain Morgan that you will think of Jamaica but just as the early settlers of Jamaica who built plantations there had their origin in the UK and went to Jamaica after first living in Barbados so did Captain Morgan.
I invite you to read this my favourite Pirate story; a tale of a slave, soldier, pirate, prisoner and governor. I hope you enjoy it, if you do I may share a few other pirate stories with you 😊

Barbados was nicknamed "land of the flying fish and indeed our national dish is Cou-Cou and Flying Fish. Many aspects of Barbadian culture centre around the flying fish: it is depicted on coins, as sculptures in fountains, and in numerous pieces of artwork in artwork. The Barbadian coat of arms feat...

I recently shared a photo of one of Earthworks Pottery’s wonderful pieces of art and I promised that I would soon share some recent photos that I had taken on my last trip to the pottery which was only about 2 weeks ago.

Today’s Blog includes those photos and a little bit about Earthworks Pottery a Bajan Treasure.

I am a Barbadian but I am also a traveller. I love to see new places and have adventures. A few years ago I went to Alaska which I absolutely love and the Rocky Mountains which I also absolutely love….. I am not quite sure I could give up my warm blue sea and fishies for them though 😊 anyhow I digress. When I am planning a trip I do a lot of research before I go. I research the top places to see and experiences to have and I use Google maps to coordinate everything. One day when we were driving my boyfriend saw a sign on the side of the road about a boat trip to see bears….. now I was hesitant not because of the bears because I wanted to see them but because I had not heard of this place and it was just a sign an a path that went over a railroad and a bridge. We could not see any further. I decided to resist my urge to stick to the plan and go along for the adventure…. I can’t always be the one calling the shots lol 😜 as an organizer it’s hard to give up the reigns sometimes but as a good girlfriend I have to 😊. Once again I digress … anyhow it turned out to be one of the best adventures we had on our holiday and it resulted in me not only seeing a bear but it was a mama bear and her two Cubs and we enjoyed watching them on the shore safely from the boat.
The world is so full of so many wonderful places and they have so many wonderful and different experiences to offer. We could have just stayed in the car and driven past but on the very wise suggestion of my boyfriend we went and had a fabulous experience that we will remember and cherish for the rest of our lives.
I know the picture of the flower has nothing to do with my story but in a way it does because my message is: Don’t let the opportunity pass you by to have experiences that you will treasure for a lifetime. Don’t just take a plane somewhere and stay in a hotel or lie on a beach…. Well lie on a beach a few days and snorkel and dive but also explore and experience what the country really has to offer you. I am sure glad that I do and I can’t wait to explore more of the world and also to share my world with you. 🇧🇧

Be resilient like a baby turtle….
When a baby turtle hatches and it makes it’s way down the beach to the sea the waves come in and often wash him or her backwards causing them to have to make the journey to the sea yet again.
This time they are a little more experienced and even though they sometimes have to make several attempts, with determination and resilience they achieve success and make their way into the sea.
Covid-19 has tossed many of us back like waves in the sea that we have no control over but like baby turtles we WILL get up and we WILL overcome and we WILL succeed.

As a Barbadian who has lived all 43 years of her life living in the 166 square miles of these Barbadian shores and the waters that lap them I am still having adventures and discovering new things.
Today’s adventure was an unplanned one.
I entered the sea in front of my home and allowed the gentle currents to take me along over the shallow waters and above the reef. As I went along I saw a variety of sea life until I came upon an area with reef balls.
Reef Balls are artificial reef structures designed to create new or enhance existing reef habitats. They consist of a long-lasting marine concrete mix which allows for growth of benthic biota such as corals and a suitable habitat for fish.
On doing a little research I learnt that the reef balls were placed by the Barbados Marine Trust in 2004 deployed 30 Reef Balls off the South Coast of Barbados in a sandy channel located between two patch reefs.
They were so beautiful and the area was filled with fish, so many swimming within the balls themselves.

Today my travels took me to Flower Forest in hunt of the Jade Vine which is in bloom. This tropical climber is rambunctious in its natural environment. Sadly it is in danger of extinction due to deforestation. Thankfully it is right at home in in Barbados at Flower Forest and is thriving. Have you been to Flower Forest and seen the Jade Vine?

Bajan Treasures. For those of you who are frequent visitors to Barbados you will quickly recognize the item in this image as one of Earthworks pottery’s masterpieces.
For those of you who have not yet visited Barbados or you have not yet been introduced to their beautiful creations I will give you this little tip; There is not another single Barbadian made item that I have heard so many visitors speak about with such enthusiasm, so much so that many visitors save space in their suitcases to accommodate planned purchases. The pottery will also box and ship items for you which is most convenient.
Year after year visitors come and they visit the pottery adding to their collection as the pottery continues to produce more and more vibrant pieces of functional art.
I myself have my own treasure chest full and I don’t mind telling you I don’t need too much encouragement to add to it 😃 🇧🇧

Sometimes I listen to the little mermaid song “Part of your world”
Up where they walk
Up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wandering free
Wish I could be
Part of that world.
I listen to the lyrics and think
Oh what I would give to have flippers like a turtle and live in the sea lol
I guess as they say the grass is always greener on the other side.

This year we celebrate “Heroes Day” by celebrating not only heroes of old; for whom we are most thankful.
The heroes of old went before us and laid solid foundations and created fertile soil from which our Heroes of today have sprung.
Over the last year our modern day heroes have worked tirelessly in the face of Covid-19 and the ash-fall from the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano in St Vincent that turned day into night in some parts of our beautiful island.
Today we say a heart felt THANK YOU!! To our Prime Minister The Right Honourable Mia Amor Mottley for leading the charge and reminding us to be our brothers keeper and for being dedicated to ensuring that we all make it through this. We say THANK YOU!! To Minister Jeffrey Bostic for all of his hard work and for reminding us “No retreat no surrender”. THANK YOU!! To Dr Corey Forde for your tireless work and dedication; your kindness, caring and the calming balm that you have provided in this storm will never be forgotten.
THANK YOU!! To Dr Elizabeth Ferdinand & Major David Clarke for your work in the vaccination program.
The truth is I could name so so many people that the day would end and I would still be typing names so here is a BIG THANK YOU!! To you ALL!
Ministers, Harrisons Point team, Paragon team, Best Dos Santos team, Barbados Defence Force, doctors, nurses, front line workers, sanitation workers & those working to remove ash.
THANK YOU!! to each and every Bajan who is following the protocols and making this a safer place for us all to live and work.
THANK YOU!! To those of you who have or will get the vaccine and help us to reach heard immunity so that our island can get back to normal and so many that are unemployed because of covid-19 can get back to work.
Happy Heros Day Barbados today there are many Heros to be. Thankful for. 🇧🇧🙏🙏🙏

I read that to say thank you correctly in India one should say "dhanyavaad" (धन्यवाद्) as a basic formal thank-you and is used in situations where you really want to stress your gratitude (like if you've been given a gift.

Tonight Barbados received 100,000 doses of Covid shield AstraZeneca vaccine from India. As a Barbadian I wish to say dhanyavaad to the Indian Prime Minister and the people of India for your generous gift. Our little Island has been rocked by this terrible virus just as the world has been. Dhanyavaad India for this gift that will help us in keeping both Barbadians safe and the visitors to our shores safe. This is an important step in our recovery and we are grateful to you.
