𝗪𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗲 𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗹𝗸𝗮𝗮𝗿.

Aan de start van The Green Stamp ging het hard (november 2020)! Op de dag van lanceren bezochten bijna 300 bezoekers onze website en werden we omvergeblazen met enthousiaste berichtjes van lieve volgers. Waar zowel wildlife als business een grote passie is, voegden we deze twee zaken bij elkaar.

Gaandeweg groeide The Green Stamp. Omdat we 50% van de inkomsten via de website doneren, was de winstgevendheid ver te zoeken. Super logisch, en hier staan we nog steeds achter. Maar we ontdekten ook een discrepantie. Want The Green Stamp is passie en wanneer we nadachten over business zaken als winstgevendheid voelde dat niet lekker.

Want we weten dat we van The Green Stamp een succesvolle business kunnen maken. Maar dat willen we niet. We willen geen zakelijk besluit moeten nemen dat ten goede komt van de business en wellicht ten nadele komt van onze ethische passie.

We hebben ons lesje geleerd: The Green Stamp is puur passie en we hebben 2 doelen voor ogen:

🍃 Zorgen dat mensen ethische wildlife tours boeken zodat wildlife beschermt blijft
🍃 Donaties collecteren voor deze ethische wildlife tours zodat ze blijven bestaan (en zelf ook meer kunnen doneren).

Dus mocht je je afvragen waarom we soms wat stiller zijn is dit het antwoord. Achter de schermen zijn we op passie-niveau bezig deze 2 doelen naar voor te laten komen.

Let us explain why is Somboon Legacy labeled with The Green Stamp!

Kammoon and Malee were rescued from the tourist industry, where they were used by and for humans for entertainment. ⁠
⁠
Unfortunately, Kammoon and Malee are not able to survive in the wild, so Somboon makes sure that every human stays 20 meters away from the elephants so that they can get used to the wild again in a secured manner. ⁠
⁠
Besides that, Somboon is a non-profit, hands-off elephant sanctuary. If that wasn't clear already 😉⁠

While being in on a 5-day tour in Uganda, we saw a giraffe on the ground, surrounded by rangers. ⁠
⁠
This beauty was snared!⁠
⁠
Unfortunately, this is a common problem, as poachers attach snares around trees to catch giraffes.⁠
⁠
Why?⁠
⁠
The bones and tale are being seen as a powerful healing tool in several Asian countries. By catching, killing and selling they can make huge profits. ⁠Also, their meat is a reason for poachers to go after giraffes.⁠
⁠
Luckily, the rangers arrived on time to save this beauty, and it could run back to freedom! 💚

Tomorrow we fly to Nairobi, where a new adventure will start!⁠

In Kenya, we will first visit Nakuru and Eldoret.⁠

After that, we will leave Kenya behind and travel further west to Uganda.⁠

At least ... that is the plan for now. We like to make a planning, but also don't want to pinpoint ourselves too much.⁠

We get that question quite often, so we thought it would time to explain it to you.⁠

Marijn and I traveled a lot, and it opened our eyes to the tourism industry. How people travel, what products they use and so on. ⁠

We felt a massive change had to be made. There were (and still are) a lot of negative consequences of traveling, but we believe that it can be changed into positive ones. ⁠

That we all can make a green impact and leave a Green Stamp behind.⁠

Meet The Jaguar Conservation Project, located in Bolivia 👋🏼⁠

This ranch has one of the highest densities of jaguars, as the name already tells you 😉⁠

One of the Masai Chiefs of Loita Hills Basecamp, Kenia, shared some incredible stories with us recently. ⁠
⁠
Let us share them with you:⁠

✨ He was able to show tourists how a wild elephant was giving birth. How special! ⁠
⁠
✨ He spotted a cheetah group hunting (also called the Special Five). Normally, cheetahs hunt solo. This groups hunts and kills together.⁠
⁠
✨ Last but not least. Not a real story, but something very interesting. The Masai grew up living in harmony with nature. ⁠Visiting Loita Hills Basecamp gives you the opportunity to learn more about their culture and enjoy their organized expeditions into the African wildlife.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝟮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗼? 👇🏼

"If you are not a 100% happy with your lifestyle right now, then you should start to fix it."

I (Carmen), ended up in a burn-out after working for several years in a 9/5 job. I didn't have any energy left.

That made me think, why would I keep continuing this?

Marijn and I had already some travel experiences, and we absolutely loved it. This in combination with me feeling incredibly unhappy in my current job made us think. Why not start figuring out how we can combine travel and work at the same time?

This is how our new lifestyle was born.
2 years later, working fully remote and able to travel to anywhere we want ✨

How?

Because we took massive action, kept believing in ourselves, pushed through and more important never gave up when things got hard.

So if you feel you need a change, remember: push through and never give up!
