Sometime the clouds cooperate, and sometimes they don't. Such is the life of an aerial survey crew at TTalos Aviation Group

However, when we do have those pretty blue skies, you can rest assured that our crews are squeezing every ounce of sun angle they can get.

I recently had the opportunity to help out a partner survey company by flying their pretty cool Cessna 182 through a couple canyons here in Tucson. Was a great time flying low and slow in this environment and capturing imagery via the strut mounted sensor.

Talos Aviation Group will even fly your airplanes for you if you need pilot support. With our team of pilots we have just about every typical survey airframe covered.

Steven Reddie knocking out Bathymetry LiDAR lines for Talos Aviation Group on the gulf coast of Texas last week. Steven trains all of our pilots on how to fly straight lines. It sounds funny, but nothing is more humbling than loading up a pilot's display and attempting to get on line and within tolerance... and failing miserably!

With Steven training our team, we spend less time on reflying lines and keeping your project as efficient as possible.

Get on our schedule today with your sensor and our airplanes!

New Talos Aviation Group PIC Mark learning the ins and outs of our Merlyn 350 Commander survey airplane from Steven Reddie. Mark has been picking up the aircraft quickly and has become well accustomed to long flight lines and 7 hour lifts during this Texas gulf coast bathymetric LiDAR mission.

Oh don't mind me, just another picture of the Super Shrike under a (relatively) blue Oklahoma sky. We've got a busy summer planned for this aircraft, but trust that we have openings on our schedule to accommodate your sensor programs or aerial acquisition with our 5 Talos Aviation Group aircraft.

What do you need flown? [email protected]

Our "east coast crew" is now the "west coast crew" so please enjoy one of the last beautiful pictures of blue water and green grass. We'll replace the pictures of the tan dirt and brown trees of the southwest US.

All kidding aside, the Talos Aviation Group team is continuing this nationwide survey as they've not transitioned from the east coast loop to the west coast with a pretty cool custom sensor.

Are you ready to platform with us? Send us a note: [email protected]

Can you tell that I love this plane? The Talos Aviation Group Merlyn 350 Commander 500s. It's not your average piston twin engine airplane.

Felt good to be back in the Piper Aztec on a decently long cross country from Georgia back to southern Arizona for Talos Aviation Group.

Now let's be clear: I love all airplanes for the most part and I have a healthy obsession with the Commander 500 series of piston twins.

But, I do think that these Piper Aircraft, Inc. Aztecs are insanely underrated airplanes because:

-They are relatively quick (I never said fast...)

-Big useful load

-Very comfortable

-Lots of fuel

They make excellent aerial survey planes and we just so happen to have 2 of them.

What's your favorite aerial survey airplane?

A little flight line art to start off your Thursday. It can be pretty mesmerizing to look at, but I know flying it can get monotonous at times. While this would be one of our more medium sized sites, we fly it all: small single line short sites, to 100 mile long behemoths.

Survey pilots: what's your favorite kind of lift to fly?

Talos Aviation Group is looking for an aerial survey contract pilot in the Dallas, Texas area to supplement some local survey flying we do out of the TKI: McKinney, TX airport. Will be our local pilot and interface directly with our customer. This is not full time or part time work - It's on call / as needed but generally flies one day per week for 7-8 hours (typically on Mon/Tues) of the week.

This is likely best suited for a local CFI / MEI / contract pilot that wants to supplement their income and add multi hours to their logbook.

If you aren't at 500TT, sorry I can't insure you in the airplane. We cannot sponsor foreign nationals, nor will we consider pilots that live outside the Dallas area.

Requirements:
500TT
50 Multi
Aerial Survey experience preferred
Tecnam P2006T
$320/day.

Will be scheduled with you up to 2 weeks in advance. Paid training in the Dallas area.

Airplane will fly about 30 hours per month and you'll be flying aerial survey sensors over 2 large sites. Most of your flight time will be cross country. There is a chance that the customer will add a second day to the weekly flights that would require an overnight, so light travel required. Travel expenses paid by the company along with GSA per diem for M&IE for pilot meals.

Email resumes to [email protected] and reference “Dallas Pilot” in the subject line.

The Talos Aviation Group heavy left / high altitude survey aircraft is ready to fly. There aren't many of these Merlyn 350s in the world, and even fewer with camera hatches for aerial survey. This airplane features:

-3500 pounds of useful load
-220 KTAS (at FL200) airspeed
-Clear air 22x25" camera hatch
-244 Gallons of fuel

This means we can carry your heavy sensor up into the flight levels, and do so with relative efficiency and long endurance. Send us a note today to start the process of integrating your advanced sensors into this airplane.
