Safdarjung Tomb was built for Nawab Safdarjung in 1754. It is made of sandstone and marble. It has the Mughal style architecture which has a domed and arched structure of reddish brown and white color. Safdarjung was a rich and powerful ruler at that time.

Mirza Muqim Abul Mansur Khan, known as Safdarjung ruled on Awadh as the viceroy of Muhammad Shah. He moved to Delhi after Shah’s death after which he ascended to the throne. In 1748, Safdarjung became the Prime Minister of the Mughal empire and received the title of “Wazir ul-Mamalk-i-Hindustan“.  During that time, his empire was diminishing because he had the command only in North India.

Safdarjung Tomb was constructed in 1754. He seized all the power of the King under his control because the King was involved into wine and women and not committed to his duty. The King was not happy with him and so the King called Marathas to throw him out of Delhi. As a result in 1753, Safdarjung has to leave Delhi.

After Safdarjung’s’ death in 1754, his son Nawab Shuja Ud Daulah built the tomb for his father with the help of Bilal Muhammad Khan. The tomb was designed by the architect from Ethiopia which costed of Rs. 3 lac at that time

Photo by Tehsin Razi] / NEARLY EVERYONE ON EARTH is familiar with the Great Wall of China. The impenetrable wall snaking up and down along several hills is one of the most recognized travel images recorded - Ranikot Fort is Pakistan’s answer to its much better known Chinese counterpart.

At first glance, the similarities of both walls are striking, and it seems that the only difference between the walls are the hills in Pakistan bare no vegetation, unlike the green hills the Great Wall of China is known for.

Photo by / The previous summer capital of India under the British Raj, Darjeeling has come off age as one of the most sought after hill stations in India. Located in West Bengal, this scenic hill station is the perfect getaway for a romantic honeymoon. Nestled amidst acres of tea plantations, Darjeeling stands at the height of 2,050 meters above sea level, thus boasting a cool climate all year round.

The toy train established back in 1881 is conferred the title of World Heritage Status by UNESCO. The train begins its journey from the plains and rises to over 2000 metres above sea level, offering breathtaking views of the mountains as it chugs along.

Over 86 tea estates in Darjeeling are responsible for producing the worldwide famous 'Darjeeling Tea'. Have a cup of locally brewed chai at the tea estate, or get down amidst the plantations to pluck a few tea leaves yourself; you are free to take your pick!

The third highest peak in the world and the highest in India, the Kanchenjunga peak, is visible from here, and you can enjoy a panoramic view of the peak. Some of Darjeeling's most popular attractions include monasteries, botanical gardens, a zoo, and the Darjeeling-Rangeet Valley Passenger Ropeway cable car, which is the longest Asian cable car. Tiger Hill is a fantastic spot to see the sunrise over the mountains in all its fiery glory.

Photo by / Dubai, where tower blocks seem to pop up almost overnight, residents have grown adept at averting their eyes from building sites. But one construction project has caught everyone’s attention: the Museum of the Future, which has loomed up over the city’s elevated, driverless metro system on the edge of the financial district.

The museum’s framework, comprising 2,400 diagonally intersecting steel members, was completed in November 2018; the facade panels now are being lifted into place. The museum is due to open in a year – a momentous time for Dubai as it will be hosting the World Expo from 20 October 2020.

The architectural world defines the futuristic shape of the museum as a torus with an elliptical void, but a giant hula hoop might be a more accessible point of reference. Lath Carlson, executive director of the Museum of the Future, prefers to liken it to an eye. “We struggle a bit to describe the building to people who haven’t seen it,” he admits. “There is nothing that quite evokes the shape."
