Visitors traveling to or from their overnight rentals across the County are strongly encouraged to delay their travel. This will allow road crews the time needed to clear snow and ice and improve road conditions for safer travel.

Municipal, County, and State Road Departments have been working throughout the night and today to treat and clear local roadways. These agencies clear local roadways based on a priority schedule which begins with the primary roadways followed by secondary & tertiary roads. Crews will continue to treat & clear public roadways until those roads have been cleared. Unfortunately, local governments are not allowed to clear private roadways that lead to and from many overnight rentals. We encourage the owners of private roads to have a plan to remove snow and ice along those roadways.

New from Great Smoky Mountains National Park- National Park Service to remove hazard trees in Cades Cove beginning January 20. Cades Cove Loop Road will be closed to visitors January 20-24.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park will remove hazard trees in Cades Cove on January 20-24, 2025. This includes removing brush from the side of the road to keep vegetation from hitting passing vehicles and removing all hazard trees that could fall onto the road.

This process requires the use of heavy equipment. In order to ensure visitor safety, the park will close Cades Cove Loop Road the morning of January 20 through noon on January 24. Cades Cove will reopen to the public over the weekend, weather permitting. If further work is necessary, the loop road will close again on January 27.

The park will bring in extra crews to complete this process as quickly as possible and appreciates the cooperation of the public as we make Cades Cove safer for all visitors.

Dollywood is experiencing high demand for parking today (Monday, Dec. 30). At this time, we encourage guests to park at alternate locations, including Pigeon Forge’s Patriot Park, and ride city transportation to Dollywood. As guests leave Dollywood throughout the afternoon and evening, spots will open if you plan to visit later tonight."
