Good morning! Some travel new from Slovenia 😄

💚Slovenia is waiting for you to explore it. In your own way.

➡️The Slovenian government has formally called an end to the coronavirus epidemic, becoming the first EU country to do so.

➡️Key containment measures remain in place, but the one major restriction has been lifted: EU nationals will be free to cross the border, with some caveats.

➡️No quarantine upon arrival for EU citizens.

➡️Follow basic rules to prevent a possible spread of infection.

The Iberic country whereby the Tourism industry represents 13,7% of their GDP (2019) and has also been a healing solution that stimulated the economy in the past years, according to some experts, has been applying “smart and efficient” methods to control and contain the spread of Coronavirus. But which had been the key actions to make this possible?

According to Portugal has been acting strategically on the following aspects:

🟥1- The country decided to declare a “state of emergency” before the situation got out of control. Without any death report by march 19th Portugal was already taking all the precautions.
🟩2- Due to their one and only frontier with Spain, the border control has been working in a more efficient way.
🟥3- The cases are mostly concentrated in cities like Porto and Lisbon (90% of the total) making it easy for the authorities to control the spread.
🟩4- The health system is working normally and without saturation due to the fact that 82% of the patients have been recovering at their own place
🟥5- Portugal’s government and opposition had let behind the differences during this juncture and have been collaborating towards solutions

🇫🇷 “La Place de la Bourse, rue saint Catherine and the Grand Theatre 🎭 are 3 of the places I enjoyed most when I lived in this city. Seeing them from different perspectives and walking to them allowed me to get to know the essence of this beautiful place . At this juncture, I wish I had spent more time exploring these spaces that Bordeaux offered me, instead of preferring to travel to other countries nearby 🗺. I believe that the way we understand tourism can be transformed by being more aware of all that we can explore just a few blocks away from the places we live 💜. We have an opportunity to value our surroundings and deepen the knowledge we have about our own cultures rather than understanding and discovering new ones”.

🇸🇮 “This is a small corner of my home town Zgornji Duplek by the Drava river. I usually work in hospitality business, but due to the situation my side business turned into my main hassle. The artwork you see here is a mandala that I drew. My business Gitadevi Art is about art with energy and this is exactly what a mandala represents. Mandala is a ritual symbol of Buddhism, Hinduism and similar religions that represent good and positive energy and connection of everything in the universe. We are all one. In this difficult time we have to stay together, act as one and have positive energy. In the meantime we can fill our time with creativity, exploring new places and last but not least discovering and supporting small local businesses and help your community and local economy to stay strong during this pandemic.” 📝 By:

☀️ Good morning everyone! ☀️

Hope you are all well-rested. While you are drinking that delicious coffee, here are some bullet points from Forbes about what can be done during these times:

· Be mindful of the sectors within the tourism industry that rely on patronage for success: Transportation, Accommodation, Food and Beverage, Entertainment, and Connected Industries (travel agents, tour operators, etc.).

· Consider a no-contact drop-off delivery from local restaurants and businesses and don’t forget to tip well.

· Purchase gift vouchers or gift cards for future hospitality visits when social distancing isn’t the modus operandi.

· Don’t lose your curiosity and desire to learn about other countries and cultures, even if you have to explore from your armchair currently. Experience the world through virtual tours, webcams, and live streams; read books and articles on travel destinations that you’d like to visit in the future; try recipes from local chefs in your community for cooking at home; take an online course in wine and put your knowledge to use on a future vacation; and seek out ways to stay connected to communities across the globe (like a travel-themed subscription box).

· Try not to panic.

· Stay informed, as the news changes on a regular basis, by checking in with a trusted source like the World Health Organization or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

International travel has taken a dive amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Flights have grounded. Borders have closed. The spread of COVID-19 has derailed businesses, communities, and livelihoods across the globe. Can tourism help the global economy once the dust settles and travel is safe again?

🇳🇱 “Maastricht is a beautiful city and a must-visit for all Dutch people. Sadly, is not as well-known and touristic as Amsterdam or The Hague for foreigners.
The city is very charming✨,in its streets and little alleys you can find from international brands to local vintage stores, therefore is a great place to go shopping.
When you go, you should definitely take a boat trip over Maas river 🚣‍♀️ (Maastricht means the city crossed by the Maas!), where you can see, for example, the St. Servatius Bridge 🌉 , known as one of the oldest bridges in the Netherlands, and the innovative architecture of the Provincial government buildings.
Maastricht is also known for its multiple churches ⛪️ like Sint-Janskerk know for its red steeple, or the Boekhandel Dominicanen (an old church turned into a bookstore). Also, when you go, you should visit the Helpoort (or hell’s door) an ancient medieval gate in the city, which was part of the city's first fortification system.
Finally, you can’t leave Maastricht without drinking a Wieckse Witte 🍻 (local white beer), and eating one of the most delicious fries at Reitz 🍟(when you go to the Markt you’ll know the exact location by the queue that is always there).
There is so much to do in Maastricht, and thanks to the Dutch railway system, it is quite easy to go. Check the NS webpage to find day passes with discounts!”

🇸🇮 “When the quarantine started I felt a rollercoaster of emotions. At first I was shocked, then I was scared and later I was bored, because I got stuck in my municipality. The quarantine took away things that I had for granted, like going for a trip and explore new places around my country and abroad. After some time I've realized “well this is my reality for a while, how can I make the best of it”? I decided that I will bring the holiday experience and feelings towards me, by responsibly exploring area nearby as much as possible… and support small local companies, while I am at it 😉. One day I’ve decided that I will take a bike 🚲 trip to a nearby group of ponds. It's a common trip for me to I can relax after a busy day, but this time I decided that I want to spice it up a little bit. I called the owner of the local well established artisanal micro-brewery Domače Pivo Rokovnjač 🍺 , for some good old pint of yellow gold. Owner was more than happy to oblige and when I arrived there, the bottles of white and dark beer were already waiting for me. I grabbed my bike, put the bottles into my cooler and my journey towards Prevoje ponds was continuing. Finally I arrived there after a 15 minute ride. The Prevoje ponds were artificially made after the end of WWII and onwards, but they became the home to many animal and plant species and a popular gathering spot for the local villagers. You can find them right at the entrance of Black Gorge valley in the municipality of Lukovica, Slovenia. I went on the pier, took out the towel, sat down and poured myself a glass of local lager from the cooler. I felt like I brought myself a proper seaside experience, but actually I was just a couple of minutes away from my house. If I play a little bit with the words of Ice Cube, I got to say that today was a good day 😄. Try this within limitations of movement in your country. I really believe that you can create yourself similar experiences in your local areas all around the EU. “ 📝By:

🇩🇰

How are they managing it nowadays? 🤔

According to “Denmark is starting to ease some of its COVID-19 restrictions:

🇩🇰It's set to reopen schools and daycare centers on Wednesday as its first step toward lifting its lockdown.
🇩🇰Denmark was the second country in Europe to announce a lockdown to limit the spread of the coronavirus, doing so before it even reported its first death.
🇩🇰Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said that social-distancing measures would remain and that the country can't reopen too quickly.
🇩🇰The Danish restrictions were never as stringent as those in many countries in Europe and beyond, but they seem to have been adhered to very closely.
🇩🇰The country had recorded 5,830 cases and 237 deaths as of Friday morning. New daily figures remain lower than in many other countries.

🇭🇷 🔎📚 Croatian town of Dubrovnik first introduced quarantine about 650 years ago, while deadly diseases spread through Europe 🦠 The fortified town became a world famous tourist attraction later in history, which now, like the rest of the world, lost its visitors. Today, history is repeating itself, and after the pandemic is over, Dubrovnik will once again rise to welcome visitors from around the globe. 💪🏼✨🇭🇷.
What’s happening today? ⚠️.

The measures would be relaxed in three turns - on April 27, May 4 and May 11. Public city and suburban lines as well as fast speed lines to islands that are not connected with ferry lines will start operating again. Libraries, museums, galleries, second-hand and regular book shops too will be allowed to open. Depending the situation, reverting to lockdown is not excluded.

🇸🇮 ŠPILK, SLOVENIA “Slovenia is certainly a mountain range country and I enjoy hiking a lot 🏔 🥾, the problem is that the mountains are in the northern part of the country so that means that there is an hour and a half car ride to get there. This means that I had to find other solutions during the quarantine 🔍 . I had known for a lot of years that there is a Rokovnjač bandit hiking trail which stretches for 55 kilometers around the whole municipality of Lukovica. I always thought that it was not worth a try, because I was familiar with the area 🤷🏻. But recently I went into reconnaissance and hiked around the tiny fraction of the trail and it really was a pleasant surprise😳✨. One day I decided that I want to climb on top of Špilk hill which is largest hill in Lukovica municipality. It offered me a picturesque trail filled with forests, far-away views and many hill pastures. I was so surprised by the beauty of the place, that it got me thinking, what else have I missed in my own backyard😱...On the way back, I stopped at ecological farm where I bought some amazing vegetables and homemade buckwheat bread, all the requirements to make an amazing lunch at home. I would say it was quite the experience, even just a few kilometres from my house. I really believe that there are many similar places right beside your doorstep, so go out, explore and support your local area :)”. 📝: Aljaž Capuder

🇦🇹

Early lockdown helped Austria gain the advantage over spreading the virus and can slowly begin to restart the economy again. ⚠️According to Austria Official Travel (austria.info).
• The number of new infections in Austria is continuing to decrease. While certain measures of social distancing remain in place, the quarantine has been lifted for the remaining three formerly most affected areas in Austria. .• Meassures as the obligatory use of face-masks in supermarkets had contribute to this results
• Since April 14th smaller shops are able to open once again. The use of face-masks is compulsory in these stores and in all means of public transport.
• By the end of April, a decision will be made to define the date for the re-opening of the service sector.
• The objective is to ensure a gradual re-opening starting in mid-May. Events can only be held once we get towards the end of June – something to look forward to!
• At the beginning of May, the Austrian government is going to decide how to proceed with the summer of 2020.

Austrians, how are you making your home also your holiday spot? ⛱☀️

🇭🇷 "During pandemia of Covid- 19 I made an inpulsive decision and went in selfisolation to our summer house located in Istria. I really ran away from my small apartment in the capital city to a place where i have been going for 26 years, but finding myself rediscover this botique vilage, i thought i knew. This pandemic time gave me different perspective on experiencing sorrowndings and showed me ways to explore my "second home".
Mediteranean biodiversity gives me opportunity to grow my own garden, find abandoned places like , pick up wild asparagus, having walks by beautiful , buying fresh fish from local fishermans,
drinking wine from local providor
And i can't wait reopen- they have the best pizza!"

"The Covid-19 pandemic completely stopped life as we know it, one of the industries that is suffering the most is certainly tourism. Nowadays I am asking myself "does it really have to be that way?" One thing I realized since the start of the municipality lockdowns in Slovenia is that in reality, I do not know my backyard properly, so let me introduce you to the historical village Brdo, just a small part of my beautiful local municipality Lukovica. With it's green pastures, lush landscapes and beautiful views, Brdo is a perfect option for a warm spring day. It is really well known for its beekeeping centre of Slovenia, which is not a coincidence because the tradition of beekeeping is really strong in the area. If you want to put your hands on some high quality local honey 🍯, be sure to contact Srce Slovenije / The Heart of Slovenia, a regional tourist organization, which will connect you to ecological beekeepers in the area. 🐝🐝 Here you can also explore a baroque 🏰, which was a really well known inspirational gathering spot for a lot of Slovenian artists 🎨 that are nowadays seen in Narodna galerija in Ljubljana.”

Did we behave sustainably while we had the chance of visiting the country? How are we gonna perform tourism after this situation is over? Are we gonna keep crowding their cities or maybe exploring other alternatives beyond the "popular" options? Let's perform a ! 🇸🇮 “I’m staying at home for the longest time in the last few years because of the quarantine, which gave me a possibility to explore my hometown more than ever before. Being unable to leave my municipality, I made a “day trip” through my neighbourhood and enjoyed some unexpected natural beauty. It made me think about possibilities of locally based tourism once the pandemic is over, since that is how we will help our community the most - visiting and spending money here. So, support the local tourism economy and smaller providers!”

🇸🇮 “Sitting here, enjoying my break. While I cannot travel outside of my municipality of Ljubljana, Slovenija, this gives me more time and motivation to discover its backyard. Here I am by the Sava river, daydreaming about the seaside and the vineyards there. Brought a glimpse of it with me in a bottle from Rodica Winery 🍷, which is a beautiful estate owned by a very hospitable Rodica family and a glass from my favourite bar in Piran Cafinho Piran where we’ve spent so many summer eves. Even in lockdown, we can have ourselves a holiday and support local tourism by letting people know about it 🗣for the time it’s safe enough to open and meanwhile if it is possible buying their products to keep the economy on somewhat level instead of total zero. Create yourself a little vacation at home, find what the place offers!✨”
