Rumassala Trekking and Jungle beach

According to the Ramayana legend, a piece of Himalayan Mountain of India, fallen to Sri Lanka is known as Rumassala. So that there are many medicinal herbs in the vicinity of Rumassala and jungle beach area. The shrine, Japanese peace pagoda was gifted by Japanese monk Nichidatsu Fuhi thero.

It has added some importance to the Rumassala mounatain. There is a giant statue of Hanuman is built at the Peace pagoda temple. Even today devotees visit this statue and worship ‘Hanuma’.A panoramic view of the Galle bay and the Indian Ocean will enthral the visitors at the top of this hill.

The reef also supports the fishermen in the area to catch fish. Visitors can see the traditional fishermen engaged with their fishing duties.

Sri Lanka possesses many and built in many parts of the Island by various kings and colonial rulers. Since the Island being near the Indian peninsula, with the many colonial conquerors and , and period, many forts were built for the defense.
There are more than about 20 forts in the Island, including both ancient and colonial period forts. With the time and to various reasons, these forts has become some destructed and some are still in good condition.

Different forts in the Island include,colonial western typed forts and ancient forts such as famous UNESCO world Rock etc.

As the forts are also containing the history and culture of Sri Lanka, it is also a good opportunity for the visitors to get an exposure of the Island, and is the greatest opportunity to the guests to witness the ancient Sri Lanka.
