You decide to leave your phone inside and just enjoy the sounds of the river as you sip tea in the morning sun. It is cup filling and relaxing, but the best part is, you have nowhere to be and nothing to do.

There was washing up to do inside. The kids toys were spread all over, as they always are. And the red wine was calling me, to sit by the toasty fire inside and talk about tomorrows plans. I realised, no matter where we are, there are busy things that can pull you away. Pull you away from that pause we all deeply need.
But here I was at River Ranch. Where you feel encouraged to go slow. Where that bench seat is perfectly placed on the back deck to lay and stare directly up at the Milky Way. So there I was, and this was my view.
It was freezing and silent and absolutely glorious. It was my pause. And my Mother’s Day treat to myself 🙌🏼

There is no better way to fill your cup than spend golden hour at River Ranch. The cup may overflow. Holding little hands, spotting bouncing roo’s, and hearing the frogs and river in background as you prepare a bbq on the deck in the fading sun, there is very few moments that can beat this.

Imagine that you are hearing the birds, then you close your eyes to hear a little louder and listen a little longer. Where a distant river runs and wind in the trees seems more beautiful today than ever before. Imagine your mind, that is cleared of tasks and chores and things to do. And you just sit.
Those are the moments we designed River Ranch for - for stillness, for nature and noticing the beauty more because you are living a little slower. Imagine that ✨ 🍃

Everything has beauty, but not everyone see’s it. Our ethos when designing River Ranch were to create a place that felt nothing like home. That forced your phone down and eyes up. There is something a little magic here and it makes you long for adventure. The type of place you breathe deeper and dream about life living on the land, even if just for a day or a week. Most guests dream of a lifetime here. When you come you will know - the beauty is everywhere. Or maybe here you just go slow enough to notice? ✨🍃

• BAILEY ♥️ • It is with heavy hearts we write to share that we have lost our darling Bailey. Our black beauty. Our girl who came when you called, and neighed through the valley on her way every morning. Bailey was born on this property, and sadly passed away on our land only a few days ago. She is at peace now, in the stars watching over River Ranch and her big brother Cooper. We know this will break the hearts of many past guests, who spent frosty mornings and magic sunsets by her side too. And those guests who returned many times just to visit our girl. We are devastated. She will be very missed, and forever in our hearts ♥️

River Ranch - No Ordinary BnB

As a busy Sydney based family, some thought we were crazy when we first took on a major renovation of a run down Cottage in the heart of Mudgee town (Black Rose Cottage). But just two years on, a booked out cottage, growing love for Mudgee, a new baby (and a clearly a whole lot more crazy) - River Ranch came on the market. We visited the house before winter hit. The leaves were colourful and the river was running. We had no choice - we had to have it. The house itself screamed potential. But it was also the magic and tranquillity of the nature that surrounds the house that stole our heart. The Ranch sits among rolling hills and rugged country side. The sound and setting by the river is unmatched, it is revitalising and relaxing. The wildlife is abundant with countless wombats, kangaroos, parrots, horses, alpacas and if you sit still long enough even platypus and turtles. The air here is fresh, and I promise you, the stars at night are brighter than you have ever seen. River Ranch was not what you see here today. River Ranch has undergone a top to bottom renovation, and is now dressed in some beautiful antiques, oldwares and stylish finishes. We hope you get to see it one day. Something about this place is good for the soul.
