Hey guys! 👋 LISTEN UP!!! 📣

Galway Potters Market is happening next weekend! It is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, July 23rd and 24th at the Spanish Arch in Galway City from 10am-6pm. 25 specially selected ceramic artists from all over Ireland will be displaying and selling their work.

This will be the 12th year running the Galway Potters Market. It has become a really popular event, bringing the best of Irish ceramics into the public domain. Good Luck to the Westside Arts ...a lot of unrecognised talent on that side of the city. Worth having a look or getting involved. Good Luck to everyone taking part this year!

https://liveingalway.com/stec_event/westside-arts-festival/

Westside Arts Festival has just published a glimpse of its promotional poster for 2022. The theme for 2022 is ‘Flights of Fancy’ and the poster carries an image of a colourful handmade kite soaring high in a Galway summer sky. Committee Member, James Coyne, said that the whole idea behind the festival theme is about having “… a fun and uplifting concept where the imagination is encouraged to run wild, where the sky is the limit and where creativity abounds.” The festival will include the usual wide range of arts, crafts and performances and a full programme will be published and distributed prior to the festival.

This year the festival is also looking forward to welcoming some very creative visitors from the other side of the world. The festival has invited kite makers from Japan to work with local creatives to deliver a series of kite making workshops and also a kite flying demonstration as part of this year’s festivities. The image on the kite therefore shows a golden Japanese water dragon on a field of Irish green - a simple lofty kite symbolising a creative exchange between artists near and far and the joy of participating in our local community festival.

Further details on the festival will be announced in the weeks ahead.

Westside Arts Festival organising committee includes representatives from the Westside community and from Westside Resource Centre, Westside Public Library, Youth Work Ireland Galway , Child and Family Agency - Tusla and Galway City Partnership. The festival is supported by Galway City Council.

THIRTY years after it was controversially moved from the town square to St Mary’s Cathedral, Tuam’s iconic High Cross is set to get a new life, this time in a virtual world.

Using a process called photogrammetry and state-of-the-art digital technology, the Cross and its detailed carvings, many of which are difficult to make out with the naked eye, will become 3D models that will be accessible from anywhere in the world.
