Spectacular to total disappointment!! People have mixed feelings about the Golden Circle. Some refuse to tread the much trodden “tourist traps”. I, on the other hand, have lost count of the number of times I’ve been to these spectacular wonders of nature. Yes, those spots can be busy but Iceland generally is becoming busier and more accessible with cheaper flights and increasing availability of accommodation. But, you never know what Mother Nature is going to do next. Just check out the Geysir. Aside from not knowing how explosive it’s going to be each time, others reactions adds to the experience. Personally, I think everyone should do the Golden Circle at least once. Mother Nature does not stick to a script and you never know what mood she’ll be in. ✨✨

Green moss on the black lava is a sight like no other. Still remember the first time we stumbled on to this field. Had to pull up to the side of the road to process what we were seeing. Very hard to describe that feeling of being in another world and seeing something your eyes and brain can’t make sense of.

Goðafoss Waterfall is nicknamed the “Waterfall of the Gods.” Some believe that the name comes from the fact that the waterfall is god-like in beauty. Another old Icelandic legend tells the tale of the waterfall’s name through a Viking leader named Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði who is said to have had thrown his Pagan statues into the waterfall, resulting in its name.
Whatever the reason behind the name, if you visit the waterfall before the crowds at 6am, you appreciate its beauty and mystical force.

I was unexplainably drawn to this tiny dirt track road on a recent route scouting trip. It wasn’t on the map and we drove past it as it wasn’t on our map either. We drove on for a few minutes until I said I need to go back and see what’s there. So we turned around and cautiously approached the entrance for information signs - we never trespass and always respect any signs to keep out. Anyways, it turned out we could drive down this dirt track which was just beautiful. It is now part of our trip for next year and includes a nights stay in a lovely guesthouse few minutes walk from this waterfall…

Probably one of the eeriest, but still beautiful, stretches of an F-Road in Iceland. The sudden change in the scenery and drop in temperature made it feel like we’d passed through a portal into another world. F-roads are roads that access the highlands of Iceland. They are breathtaking routes, whilst also being very challenging and, in some cases, dangerous. These F-roads can contain a lot of loose gravel. Imagine riding here on your motorbike?
