Building a Cyber 48, the journey has just begun.....but the plans have been purchased and we are off!!!!

Swipe left, its starting to take shape, building a yacht in the bottom of our garden! 🌟🚢 The Cyber 48 project is abuzz with the momentum that has really kicked in now and here's a peek of the portside hull from the inside and the outside. We've placed strengtheners in the bulkheads, piece by piece, and getting ahead for the second hull.

🛥️🌊 Our exciting news, the build continues ! We are Tamsin and Craig and we are building a 48' catamaran in our backyard in Hout Bay. Although we have not posted much lately, things continue behind the scenes. We now have a project timeline for completion! Despite the challenges we have had and will face, we plan to have the boat in the water by 2025. It's been an incredible journey so far, with the neighbors intrigued by the project and curious about the large structure in our backyard. We have made progress on the starboard hull and Craig is finishing up building an English Wheel to bend the sheets of aluminium. In the next step we start plating the hull which will happen in May. Stay tuned for more updates on our backyard build .

We have a helping hand and the boat build is happening daily, between load shedding and all the other crazy curve balls, but the show will go on. At this stage welding on the T sections along the bulk heads.

Our aluminium has arrived and the bulk heads have been Lazer cut to speck. Transporting 3.5 tons of 4mm thick 6 meter length sheets took about 4 trips on a very long trailor... and loads of manpower to carry it from the trailor to our boat shed.... * * * #buildyourownboat #cyber48 #catamaran #capetownsailing #houtbayharbour
