Took a ride down to South Hill Virginia on this gorgeous January day. Stopped at Fiesta Mexican Restaurant Bar and Grill on historic Route 1 for a late lunch. Pretty good food at a fair price.

I stopped at 'Big Pig" in Stoney Creek Va. this morning for a BBQ pork sandwich. I haven't been in a couple years. First time under the new owners. Average taste, it was OK. Plenty of other items on the menu. I got there during a lunch rush. A few local workers and a van full of I-95 travelers.

Is there one bike that you used to own and wish you never sold? I owned this 2004 Honda 919 Hornet for a while. It was Honda reliable, fast and smooth and a lot of fun to ride. This was taken back in 2009.

Bollax here. Wow it has been too long since I posted on here! Ever since I retired last May (2020) I thought I would be riding and posting more on here, then a little thing called Covid came around a ruined everything. Well I got out today and went to a little country store that is between Waverly and Wakefield Virginia on Route 460. Adams' Peanuts and Country Store. It has been featured many times in articles and the news. I got their famous ham sandwich. Salty ham goodness on white bread with some Dukes mayo and a slice of American cheese. Took it home and opened some Lays chips and a cold soda. Damn good!

Took a loop north west. Landed a lunch at Billiken's BBQ on Lake Anna. Pulled pork sandwich, pretty good. Get the hot mustard sauce.

Bike Night at Mission BBQ. The hearse behind the Harley is sponsored by Morrisett Funeral home. For the die hard biker that wants to make that final ride to the cemetery on a bike !!! Thunder, lightning and rain cut the night short for me. Got wet by the time I got home. The X.

A terrific dinner ride to meet my old high school buddy and fraternity brother Steve Paulette (Captain USN) in Williamsburg. Caught up on old times and new. Carraba's food was good and I ate half of it before taking the pic. Hadn't ridden in the dark that long for a while. I need better lights on the Valk. Check out Captain Steve's new Harley trike !!! A short ride today with my ol' buddy, fraternity brother, and roommate Mike Moore (AKA Uncle Juan). After meeting at the old Theta Chi house at U of R, where we relived some tails of our misspent youth, we then set out to try the Piedmont BBQ in Goochland. Much to our sorrow, it was closed for lunch for two days, but did offer 50% off you next meal if you mentioned that you came by and they were not open. Without moving the bikes, we walked across Broad St. and ate at the Hickory Notch Grill. We both got the BBQ sandwich, which was tender, but not too flavorful. My guess is that it is cooked inside as opposed to outside on a smoker. Service and price were good. Great company and ride. The Dragon.

Needed a break after some yard work so I took the VTX and headed to Ray's Italian Ice and Frozen Custard (corner of Church and Lauderdale) It was recommended by a dentist, so how could I go wrong? I got the large chocolate/vanilla cone of custard and it was large and tasty. If you get the large cone in very hot weather, you will be licking at a feverish pace to prevent drippage. The X.

A great long ride today with Chris Bassett, Bill Coates and Dave Bangit. Went to Luray through Sperryville and came home down the Shenandoah Valley on 340 (That's the Stonewall Jackson Hwy for you PC dweebs !!). Then down the Rockfish Valley and back to the RVA. Found a new grub spot - Mok-N-She's in Luray. I had the fried meat loaf sub and a handspun shake. My compadres all got the blueberry bread pudding for desert, which they shared with me. Outstanding food all around and the pudding was the best I have ever had. Try it out. The Dragon.

The Valk Brothers (Chris and I) rode on this beautiful Fall day (leaves have not turned) to Buena Vista, destination JJs Meat Shack. We started out at Satterwhite’s in Goochland for breakfast. A tour of Fluvanna County back roads and a windy piece of 60 West between Amherst and Buena Vista got us to lunch. The lunch special ($6.50 small sandwich, side and drink) BBQ was average by my standards. Advertised as pulled pork, but consistency was more like chopped. The mac and cheese was excellent and the sauces I tried were very good. We came home on 11, 340, and 250. Great ride and company. The Dragon.

A great ride to Williamsburg this morning to Honey Butter's for breakfast with Chris, Lane, Chris, me, and Ron. It was a great breakfast. First time I have seen fried chicken livers on a breakfast menu, so naturally, I had to have them. Throw in a side of garlic home fries to go with the eggs, livers, coffee, and toast and it was complete. I highly recommend this as a breakfast destination. The Dragon.

Beautiful breakfast ride with new riding buddy (and Valkyrie owner) Chris Bassett to the Inwood Restaurant in Gordonsville. Western and ham omelets were the breakfast of choice. They were delicious and the potatoes were real. Highly recommended. The X.
