This episode is my favourite of the season so far. Strangely, we were filming this when the first earthquake hit back in September. Now as it airs, the sunshine and happiness of this episode is in stark contrast with the devastation and destruction that has enshrouded Albania since the 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit last Tuesday. The death toll has now unfortunately reached 49. Searches a currently underway for a person, feared dead, trapped under the rubble of a hotel. With more than 1000 aftershocks recorded since the 6.4 magnitute earthquake hit on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, Albania and its allies continue rescue attempts despite the continued shaking, rain and thunderstorms that hamper their efforts.

Hundreds of Thumana residents spent a difficult night in the camp set up for them after the November 26 earthquake destroyed their dwellings.

Foreign search and rescue teams from across the globe assist in finding as many people as possible alive in the rubble following the devastating 6.4 magnitude earthquake in Durres, Albania.

Italy, Turkey, Greece and Kosovo have all come together to help with the difficult situation playing out in Albania in the aftermath of strong earthquakes. First aid and a rescue team have even arrived from Kosovo following the official call of the Albanian state.

Foreign media including Reuters, BBC and CNN have been covering the serious earthquake which has rocked the small European coastal nation of Albania.

The news agencies Reuters, Ansa, BBC, Euronews, Deutsche Welle, Le Monde and CNN were some of the international sites that described the scenes of panic and tragedy that followed the seismic shocks.

In the early hours of Tuesday 26th November a 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit near Durres, Albania. The death toll currently has reached 29, with more feared as many continue to be trapped under the rubble. Rescue teams have come from abroad including Kosovo, Serbia, Germany, Italy, Greece and the USA. Today, Wednesday 27th November, has been declared a National Day of Mourning whilst the Prime Minister, Edi Rama, has also declared a State of Emergency.

The quake, which had a preliminary rating of 6.4 magnitude, hit the European nation at an approximate depth of 20 kilometers (12 miles) early Tuesday local time, according to the United States Geological Survey. It is the strongest to hit Albania in 40 years.
