Yesterday, we took a ferry from the diver’s paradise in Cozumel, to Playa del Carmen on the mainland of the Yucatán Peninsula.
Our representatives from Palace Resorts walked us through the process of buying tickets, stowing suitcases, and finding our seats. We had access to a lovely air-conditioned seating area, but my body preferred the breeze outside. And Dramamine. 😉
It was so cool to see the water change from deep blue to turquoise as we came in to dock. The first big feature of the mainland we saw was the white sand beach.
We arrived to find Playacar Palace just steps from the dock! Though, to be honest - those were some HOT steps in August. 🥵 Once we were refreshed with a cool towel and a welcome drink (I think this one was passion fruit), we began our resort tour.
➡️ Playacar Palace has an energy around the pool that Cozumel didn’t. They have many activities each day and change it up a little so guests have variety.
➡️ We only ate at the buffet restaurant but I was very impressed with the food.
➡️ You can walk just 10 blocks from the hotel and see most all of Playa del Carmen, including their famous shopping district.
➡️They offer bike tours from the resort to see the Mayan ruins in the area and hear the history of the people there and how they got back and forth to the island of Cozumel.
💡I learned that divers shouldn’t fly within 24 hours of a dive, so a visit to the mainland can be a great recovery option after several days of diving.

This company was the FIRST dive shop on the island of Cozumel and they certainly know what guests want to see.
The Cozumel Palace is about to close for a massive renovation, but they will be back in October to share their hospitality with you.

I traveled all the way to Denver to see my hometown Atlanta Braves play. 🤣 Still haven’t caught a game at Truist Park, so please don’t cancel me for that. Tried something called a “Rockie Dog” - I may have been a little heavy on the mustard.
This isn’t my last stop this week. Stay tuned and see where I end up in a few hours. Hopefully somewhere warmer than Denver has been. I haven’t brought pants or a jacket!

I was thinking this past weekend about the travel agency that didn’t hire me because I couldn’t work “full time” and I just LAUGHED. 🤣🤣🤣
Jokes on them.
I have so much to do and I am so thankful for all of you that have trusted me with your trips!
In the midst of travel drama around the world, this is a short list of what I did this weekend.
-chatted with clients at the airport that had a cancelled flight to the Caribbean - unable to be rescheduled until 5 days later
-booked those same clients on a cruise! - to sail on a brand new ship from a port they could drive to, skipping flights altogether
-managed the paperwork for the original trip cancellation to submit to the travel insurance company
-reached out to my peers (that had just sailed on a preview of this brand new ship) for some insider tips for my guests
-booked a European cruise for new clients
-finished up 3 travel itineraries/guides for upcoming trips
-remained available to my other travelers on the move and truly celebrated when my guests made it to Europe for the Olympics!
-generally fretted and prayed a lot because I truly care about my guests and want them to have spectacular trips
I love my job!

I have had some fantastic interactions with guests post-trip, but this past weekend I think I had the best!
A dad (with the biggest grin on his face) told me all about how much they enjoyed their recent trip to Universal Orlando Resort.
It was the perfect vacation and they were blown away by the whole experience. The resort, the parks, the rides, the theming -- all of it!
He was already talking about taking the family back for the new park that opens next year.
How convenient! My travel advisor training for the new park has already begun! 😉✨
It was very similar to an exchange I had with a mom who had visited another country outside the U.S. for the first time! The trip was a thrill for her!
Making parents feel like kids again has got to be my favorite part of this job - until I pick a different favorite part of this job.

June 7 is World Chocolate Day!
This is a GLOBAL celebration of chocolate! Some suggest this day may be the actual anniversary of chocolate introduction to Europe back in the year 1550.
The day has been observed since 2009 and I got all of this information from Wikipedia. ;)
The United States have their own “International Chocolate Day that falls on Milton Hershey’s birthday, September 13th.

This family wasn’t quite sure where they wanted to go, but they did know the kind of experience they wanted to have!
