Running until early November, this campaign showcases York as Europe’s Most Haunted City with a feature-film style trailer aimed at inspiring potential visitors. Paired with social media, YouTube ads, eNewsletters, and wider marketing activity, Haunted York is designed to captivate visitors this autumn. 🕯️

We are thrilled to share the latest data on York’s thriving tourism sector, showcasing its significant impact on our local economy. In 2023:
💷 Tourism contributed £1.82 billion to York’s economy.
💼 Tourism supported 16,017 FTE jobs.
🧳 9 million visitors, including both day and overnight stays (up 2.2% vs. 2022).
💰 Direct visitor expenditure: £1.2 billion.
🛏️ Average length of stay: 3.2 nights.
These figures underscore York’s position as a premier destination for both domestic and international visitors and we remain committed to further enhancing York’s reputation as a world-class destination.
