"ภูเก็ต" เตรียมตัวต้อนรับการออกเดินทางรอบโลกอีกครั้งของเรือ Amerigo Vespucci เรือสำเภาเดินสมุทรสัญชาติอิตาลี เรือที่ได้รับยกย่องว่าเป็นเรือที่สวยงามที่สุดในโลก ซึ่งเตรียมเทียบท่าในประเทศไทย ที่ท่าเรือน้ำลึก (Phuket Deep Sea Port) จังหวัดภูเก็ต ในช่วงวันที่ 6-10 พฤศจิกายนนี้
Amerigo Vespucci สร้างขึ้นเมื่อปี 1931 โดยได้รับการตั้งชื่อเรือตาม Amerigo Vespucci นักสำรวจและต้นหนเรือที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดคนหนึ่งของอิตาลีในช่วงศตวรรษที่ 16 เรือลำนี้มีขนาดยาวกว่า 100 เมตร หากวัดจากหัวเรือถึงท้ายเรือ ซึ่งในช่วงแรกเรือลำนี้ถูกใช้งานเพื่อฝึกซ้อมการเดินสมุทรให้กับเหล่านาวิกโยธินอิตาเลียน และหลังจากนั้นจึงถูกใช้งานเพื่อเป็นเรือสำรวจน่านน้ำเชิงอนุรักษ์เป็นเวลาอีกกว่า 30 ปี รวมแล้วอายุขัยของเรือลำนี้ก็มากกว่า 90 ปีเลยทีเดียว
